So..... I had a smash about 6 Months ago now, and still not heard anything back about the car being fixed for the third party.

I told my insurance company there was minimal damage to my car, which there was, to both cars. Therefore I didn't want to pay the £1,000,000 Excess and got it sorted my self, for a 1/5 of the Excess price.

But, I crashed into and ADT van thing, therefore a company car. I would have got the car fixed for them if it was just another bloke, to stop insurance yada yada.

Directline rung up there insurance and said that they were gonna take my no claims off me, but in the end I still have them as they ain't taking em off me when A) They haven't paid out a penny and B) I said i'd pay for damages to keep my noclaims.

All well and dandy, So now the claim is down as closed, but they can apparently open up the claim whenever they want whenever the car gets fixed, which I have been told they have 5 years to claim, put all work in, etc.

I don't think they'll ever fix the car, but what do you guys reckon?

And also, how will this affect if I ever move to another insurer? Will directline contact me still in event that the claim opens up?

Because I really don't want to be stuck with directline for the next 4years.

Cheers.

Hi mate.

first things first, you DONT have to saty with direct line for the next 4 years. Your side of the claim is complete, and therefore you can move on to a new insurer as and when you want. IF the ADT guy ever claims (which to be honest much big compmany which have fleet management etc will not) they Direct line will most probably not even contact you, unless it to tell you that he is claiming something else like injury etc.

With reguards to the NCB, you are obliged to tell your insurer whenever you have an accident, even if you do not claim anything (which is what it appears you have domne in this case) This can effect your premium, but shouldnt effect your NCB unless a claim is actually made by either party.

Hope that helps a bit,
Alan

Yea thats spot on (y)

But I don't like the idea of directline not contacting me? I would them rather contact my current insurer and let me pay, especially to stop em coming after me!

:p
