Looking for a new digital camera...needs to be small, under £200 and have a zoom and built in rechargeable battery. Considering the Fuji F30 or the F470..the former meant to be better but complicated, the latter small and simple...any thoughts, others? :)

Go for something with at least 6MP
3-4X Optical Zoom
Li-lon rechargable battery
Im not a big fan of Fuji cameras, i used to have the F10 and wasnt very happy with the quality of it, although i havent seen the cameras you mentioned.,
How about this? very cheap., I have the big bro of this one the LX2 and i really like the Lumix camera's in general, also you cant beat the Leica lenses.,.

I've got a Fuji F20 which I have found to be very good. The F30 is it's bigger brother, only difference AFAIK is bigger battery, can go up to ISO3200 instead of ISO2000 and the LCD is bigger. There are probably a few more features which are different but I can't remember without googling again :)

Picked mine up @ Argos during the January sale however they also seem to be the only ones who do the F20 in the Charcoal finish. In my opinion it looks far nicer than the standard Silver you see across most cameras.

I'll see if I can get some sample pics up later.

Thanks peeps (y) The Panasonic one looks interesting although I think I would prefer a camera with a viewfinder and not just a screen (can be a pain if very sunny) ... Going to get out to Jessops at lunchtime for a look and some advice (will then buy online ;) )

I have a Fuji finepix, you cant buy that one now as its 3 years old, the one before that was a Fuji as well, it expired with desert sand in the zoom lens.* I find them intuitive to handle and the Finepix viewer that comes with them is also easy to use and does most of what I want. For everything else my most recent camaera came with Photoshop. So yes, they dont have the Cannon name, but they work fine and last well.
*my fault, but as the camera was a bit low spec by then I gave it to a technician at one of my clients who rebuilt it, it still works!

My current camera is a very old Fuji, about 3mp :D It works fine but runs off batteries. The advantage of me sticking with Fuji is that I have XD cards...if the ideal camera is SD however, no major problem as a 1gb card is only about £20

Im looking for a Canon EOS on ebay at the mo, for my trip to NY in june. Over 8mp's on them. They go for quite a lot but you come across a bargin sometimes. I'm still waiting for one under £150! :D

Went to Jessops...Fuji F30 is rather big and chunky so it's down to the Lumix FX3 (cheaper, better lens) or the Canon Ixus 60 (prefer as has viewfinder and does good video apparently)...make a decision for me (y)

Personally id go with the panasonic though the Canon Ixus 60 is a good camera., i dont think the canon has O.I.S and it more expencive.,.,
also i dont think the canon has 16:9 aspect ratio though i could be wrong on that.,.

I have a panasonic lumix dmc-fx9, as well as an olympus e500 digital slr. The lens is razor sharp on the panasonic, it is slim, light, and the battery when charged lasts for a couple of months of light use. The image stabilisation does work, only criticism I have is that indoor flash coverage isnt as good as my old fuji s304, but the camera is far superior. When i bought it, think it was may last year, full retail was £250 i think, i paid £180 on ebay for a new one (manual was in french, but english version available for download from pana's site, though I havent needed the manual) it is well built, and despite me carrying it in my pocket without a case (tut tut.....) it has 'aquired' very few scratches. The same camera is also available as a Leica, think the price tag is around £400 though as a Leica......... you can do far far worse than an fx9. My bro in law has just had a fuji f30, excellent cam for low light (he is a birdwatcher, so needs something that works with low light to use with his telescope), but a bit bulky
