I've bought a fiat idea 1.4 eleganza and coming from a mk1 focus find that the body roll is terrible is there any way to make it better round corners

You can buy braces that fit under the car to reduce body roll:

Front Shocks: 50703687 or 50705410

Rear Shocks: 50703689 or 50705413

Both should be SACHS units.

If you look at the BLUE bar across the top of the forum click on the tab saying ePER then search using your vin number/model. It's the parts list from FIAT.

If you want to buy your own the last version on CD was 84 which you can pick up off ebay for about £10.

Also we tend to use MultiEcuScan for diagnostics (if you have a laptop handy)

Unfortunately no-one does uprated shocks for our model (you might find fronts but no-one does rears also).

Not sure if i should start new thread but i have a little on and off problem with starting her up i sometimes get a delay after turning the key for the ignition to fire up the engine it fires up but there's a second or so in between turning the key to firing? Starter motor ? Battery ?

Start by checking all your earth leads.

Do you try and start straight away or let it do some of it's diagnostics first ?

I'll check the leads then 1st it's only every so often it happens i start the thing in one turn usually , used to driving a basic ford I'll give it a few seconds next time thanks zeewulf

Thinking of changing my exhaust and under mine seems to have i think what's called a clam shell exhaust can i replace this with a standard exhaust

Also has anyone noticed a negative camber on the front or is it just me

If your on about the tailpipe, my 1.4 16v Eleganza just has a standard exhaust pipe. Not really noticed the camber but will have a look tomorrow before I go to work.

Also when having the exhaust changed get them to check all the mounting brackets, the one attached to the gearbox on mine has broken (all easily bought from Fiat and not silly prices either).

hi,

let all the "check lights" do their thing.. once they are all off again - then turn the key..

our "bulletproof" panda occasionally does this if I "rush" the starting..,

Thanks for the reply think I have the hang of it now starting to enjoy driving it more now I'm going to fit the shock absorber this weekend should improve the way it drives too

I've heard bad things about the fiat gearboxes but mine is notchy and works well are they prone to problems or just the odd case?
mines a silver 1.4 eleganza with orange and grey trim 2005 model bought myself a silver grill ha

Exactly the same colour as mine then including the interior.

Already swapped my black grille for the silver one, got myself a set of 17" Stilo alloys to go on also. And swapped the headlights for the later clear indicator ones (tip mk2 Multipla headlights are exactly the same as the Idea, but usually cheaper on ebay).

Next up is to see if I can get a Fiat 500 sport gearknob to fit instead of the plain grey one we have.

Just noticed my water jets that spray the windscreen and rear window are back to front when I pull back on the lever it sprays the rear screeb and when pushing on the stalk towards the dash it sprays the windscreen anyone else got this ?

To be honest I'm not sure as never had the need to open mine up.

I know the stalks are all one unit and are plug in but that's as far as my knowledge goes to be fair.
