I'm off to look at a 2004 Fiat Idea Eleganza tomorrow and was wondering if you can give me a few tips on what to look for on these cars. Usual problems etc. as I don't know too much about them.

it's a 12 year old car.., so lack of servicing / abuse

followed by PAS and other warning lights,
try and ensure BOTH keys open locks and start the car

suspension and rubbers could be poor with age,

Diesels / Dualogics have their own issues, thoroughly test the Aircon and Climate too..!!

It's done 70k, has both keys. Full MOT till Jan 17. Checked previous MOT history and had front coil spring replaced in 2014, full exhaust replaced Jan 16 and nothing prior to either off those going back to 2007 when it needed a tyre. HPI clear etc.

It will get a full service off me this week IF I buy it.

Ok all, just got back from having a look at the car. Everything works as it should, slight damage to drivers side doors where someone has knocked the wing mirror off and scraped both doors (already ordered replacements for £80 total). Mileage is verified at 65937. Total Cost = £150 (Car) + £80 (two doors in correct colour) = £230 TOTAL !!

How comes it was so cheap?!

Private seller on Gumtree. Old lady was selling it as she'd just got a new disability motor so no longer used it. And yes i'm one very happy bunny, collecting it Monday as she wanted to give it a clean after she'd removed her belongings (did say she didn't have too).

Wow, talk about bargain!!

ZERO market for an Idea..,

helped my neighbour buy one, dirt cheap..only put oil in engine, and replaced 2 tyres in 3 years 30k miles, from 30K to 60k

bought for £1100 , traded for £500 - needed 7 seater.
