Hi folks

Lately my reverse lights, parking sensors and rear wash wipe don't come on when reverse is selected. From what I've read this is the fault of the reverse switch located somewhere on the gearbox. I cannot locate it though.

Does anyone know where it is on a dualogic? I have had the selespeed splash guard off and I still cannot find it. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

FWIW the first I knew of this problem was when I reversed and nearly hit something as the sensors don't work of course, but the car's computer doesn't know they should be on so there is no warning that they are not in use.

UPDATE:

I have found out where the reverse switch is on a Dualogic Fiat Idea. It's a major job to replace - in fact I wish I could say I was successful but I failed in my attempt but I might succeed next time! It involves lowering the engine on the nearside of the car.

Basically this is what I did.
  1. Take out the battery and remove the battery tray
  2. Jack up the engine - just to support it
  3. Remove the nearside engine mount nut (19mm) and washer
  4. Lower the engine to get at the bracket and its three 13mm bolts. I had to lower it quite a bit so as to get at the middle bolt - I used a spanner as there was not space for a socket. This bracket needs to come off as it hide access to the reverse switch
  5. The bracket then fell off and the engine dropped forwards slightly. It would have been better for later if I had propped the engine somehow at the front to stop this forward movement inside the engine bay as it made getting the bracket back on and aligned a serious hassle
  6. I then attempted for about an hour to get the electrical connector off the switch with one hand (accessing it from the top) - I failed totally as it's a two man job I reckon. If one person were below the car they could wiggle the connector off while the top person hopefully manages to pull the spring-loaded clip off the side. Even if I had got the connector off I think it would still have been a major mission to get the 22mm deep socket onto it.
FWIW I found the area around the switch incredibly greasy - lots of old black grease - so whether that has an affect on the operation of the intermittent switch I have I don't know.
Having decided I couldn't get the connector off I gave up and had a fun time trying to get the three bolted bracket back on! I had to jack up the front part of the engine to get the bolt hole mated up with the end of the bolt.
So, in case this helps anyone note that this is a pig of a job. So easy on a manual as you can clearly see the switch.
