I have a 1.4 Idea Eleganza 04 plate. Recently I've noticed that it takes forever and a day to clear the inside windows ( front and rear) I can be sat in the car waiting for 10 mins or more. Normally it's quite quick. Yesterday the husband noticed that the temperature guage was showing cold, right at the bottom. We sat stationery for a bit and it rose to the middle which is normal. But as soon as I drove off, it went back to the bottom again.
Why does this happen?? Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

temperature thing could be a stuck thermostat.

are you using the demist button to demist?

Temp guage sounds fine. Sounds like a faulty thermostat which is jammed open so will be over cooling the engine.

Needs to be changed, should result in better fuel consumption also then

I use the demist button to demist both windows. This drops the temperature back down to the minimum on the car engine temperature guage. This is making the air come out cold and not warm like it should.

sounds like thermostat then cost about £15 + new coolant about another £15. 2 bolts and 1 hose clip to change it, best to buy a new clip before starting the job. about 59p

basically , the thermostat should partially close to slow up the circulation of water around the engine, until it reaches around half-way,

sounds as if it's not closing much..so the heat is not being kept in the system ,

the water is passing around the cars radiator too much, cooling the water,

as the others have said, quite a cheap + simple fix,

Make sure you get a genuine thermostat from Fiat. Costs about £22 all in including gasket, and then fresh coolant like Dave says
