Hi all , new member :)

I've just bought mates 04 plate 5 speed 1.4 petrol idea.
for starters, it will need a gearbox and a drivers seat.
got a quote of around 200 quid delivered for a 5 speed gear box (seems reasonable)
think it came with a 3 month warranty.
Anyways, was wondering if any other fiat models might use the same box e.t.c ??
Is the idea gearbox different for petrol/ diesel models?
I believe the mk2 punto '99 onwards might use same compatible mechanical parts?
any reply or answers would be most helpful ;)

The Idea, Fiat model 350, is based on the Punto 2, Fiat model 188, platform. Engines are pretty much the same as are a lot of other things. The five speed for the petrol engines should be the same for both. On the other hand, the five speed for the 1.2 may have different ratios, especially in fifth. That could make the engine turn a little faster on the highway. Mechanically, there should be no problems connecting them.

And while you've got everything apart, why not replace the clutch? It may save you a bundel to do it at this point compared to waiting for it to fail later on.

thanks for the info (y) going to try and source a box locally, if i can use any 5 speed punto mk2 gearbox. the idea model seems to be scarce !! wont be doing job myself, but will get mechanic to maybe replace clutch and cam belt also.

anyone know if the idea drivers seat is compatible / same as any other models ?
current seat was removed, but the frame is broken beyond repair
mate who owned car before me is a big guy :D

Hi all.
just to update---had car about 1 year now. managed to source a seat and gearbox so covered a good few thousand comfy miles now :)
just recently though, car difficult to start when cold (and frosty)
changed the 4 coils and plugs plus filters but not really much difference
Also replaced temp and MAP sensors, running better overall but still hard to start when engine is cold. Dont think its the lambda as fine when engine warm  Engine (1.4 petrol) Turns over fast enough from cold so battery and starter should be ok. Diagnostic check showing no error codes to help show problem. many many sensors so dont know what to try next ?? --any suggestion welcome :D

nothing obvious.., does it start well from warm and HOT

in your search for parts.. any idea ( sorry..) if the rear bumper section is common to Multi.etc,
ours is now in a bit of a state,
low post..!! , sensors didn't see it -- neither did we..!!
