Interior mirror refitting?

Hi peeps.
Bit of a strange one, I know
I own a '54' Eleganza and a couple of days ago whilst 'keenly' dusting the dashboard my elbow knocked the driver's interior mirror and displaced the mounting.
Not a problem, I thought, just pop it back on, coz it wasn't a terribly hard knock
...mmmm
The problem is that there's nothing obvious to pop it back onto, so it's just hanging from the wires (I should mention at this point that there's a rain sensor underneath).
To sum up I've had to use copious amounts of blue-tak for the time being ..not ideal.
Any ideas???
