Hey there ,

My car came stock with no cassette/radio at all , just 4 standard speakers and a Radio Antenna , I installed a Pioneer DEH-2850 CD/mp3/Radio Player .

thats the one :

Mosfet , 50X4

I had to go go with the standard speakers due to budget limitations , but after a While .. I had it ... , well its not that they are that bad , but the BASS and overall sound quality after raising the volume ... are just BLAND compared to my PCs Cambridge Soundworks ... anyways I decided I needed some Rear Speakers ..

since My car is fairly new ( 8 months old ) I didn't really like the idea of Gms /Amps and Subwoofers .. they all seem to cut a space of the already small boot and alot of wiring , cables and drilling has to be made into my car ... and since I trust no one here with my car , I simply opted for a DOME shaped speakers ..

I bought a TS-A6971E Pioneer Speakers
20060415105243298.jpg
... 2 rear ones , 6" x 9" DOME , 350W shaped :

* 3-Way Configuration
* 350 Watts Max. Power Handling
* 80 Watts Nominal Rating
* Dark Blue Interlaced Aramid Fibre Reinforced IMPP Cone Woofer

, And installed them , well the sound is simply 5000% better at high volumes ... but I think it could be tweaked even better ...

So I was asking are there any cheap thrills or ways to even improve my sound quality or bass ??

and oh... My radio volume is always like 50% lower than my Mp3/Wma/CD .. is that normal ?

very good cd player and speakers youve bought,.

to get the sound even better you could replace the front speakers with better ones, kenwood, jbl, etc or pioneer if you want to keep it all the same.

i assume your 6x9s are in the parcel shelf, the parcel shelf is thin,if you change it to an MDF Shelf you'll get better performance from your speakers

Thanks alot :)

Yeah I can install these front ones , but they are circular and cheaper :D

as for the Shelf , I am not sure whats it made of but its some sorta thin wood , might be mdf .. but I was thinking of making a small WOODEN BOX enclosing the speakers ?? since they are our in the open , anyone putting stuff on the boot can scratch them or damage them , and would that improve the bass as well ??

Thanks alot.

Let your 6x9s run "free air" in boot (I assume you have installed them in the parcel shelf?), don't enclose them in.

The problem you have is that you're still using the onboard amp of the headunit which is realistically going to give you about 15wrms x 4. Now the speakers you have are rated at 80wrms, so there's simply not enough power on tap to drive them properly.

I'm currently running my 200wrms Morel Elates from my headunit and although the sound is OK, I know for a fact that once I've installed my amp (today hopefully) they shall really sing.

I think your best option now is to replace the fronts with some good quality, but low power handling speakers - Focal do some that would probably be just the ticket.

ok excuse my stupidness , so basicly this means that my headunit is not giving enough power to the speakers , so by adding an AMP that would increase the power going to the speakers , make them sound better or louder ?? I don't care if they are going to be louder , I dont usualy turn on the volume , but if better then would a cheap "Symphony" AMP do the trick ?

Thanks again

Never heard of Symphony - Sinfoni yes (and if you can get a Sinfoni cheap then snap it up). Any speaker will benefit from being amped, but you can get good quality amps for not a lot of cash.

If you want extra bass then an amp will help but what an amp really helps with is volume. If you want better bass without extra volume then i'd look at new front components.

No Its Symphony .. some cheap Chinese brand :D

I dont want VOLUME ... this headunit has 24 levels .. on level 10 my ears gets really really annoyed !! so I just want better BASE .. I think the front speakers would do and they are SURPRISNGLY alot cheaper than the rear ones ( same Pioneer model ) .

Thanks alot mates .

btw the car is a Fiat Palio 1.2V ELX 2006 .

The amp will definately help with low end sound reprocussion, your headunit will NOT be able to cope driving the 6x9s.

My dad was having the same problem - he would have to turn up the volume quite loud to the point where the front speakers were distorting and rumbling before the 6x9s even kicked in. And after hearing him moan about it so much i gave him one of my old amps i had knocking spare, the difference was phenominal. Now at half the volume, you had tight clear bass and the overall soundstage was much better without having to be irritated by tinny distorted bass...

My recommendation would to get a Vibe blackbox I amp :) Can probably pick them up pretty cheap nowadays, and gives you a nice crisp 2x50w RMS - which is enough to drive your 6x9s nicely - and the amp itself is small and compact, so easy to mount and hide away. Also it uses cooling fans from both sides and no heatshield, so has more mounting options :) If space isnt too much of an issue, the blackbox II may be more suited at 100w RMS a channel :)

Oooh I see now ,

Anyways I think I will go for "front speakers" for now , and might get an AMP by next month , AMP brands here are a few .. rare I might say .. and mostly are unbranded chinese stuff , something called " PUNCH" stuff like that !

anyways What about a SUB ... I've heard there's subs that just like Computer Subwoofers. . a small black box sitting in the boot ? is that really usefull ?

I am not liking this whole AMP stuff ... feels like a motherboard inside my Car :p
