Ok so you buy the car and the factory stereo is not exactly great so you change it.

I Started off with an aiwa head unit (£120)that would let me plug in my minidisc but the sound was not great and rarely used the aux output.

Changed the aiwa for a JVC (£140) unit that was much clearer but had only one pre-out.

When I wanted to addd a subwoofer and amp the one pre out was a pain (you need at least 2)so took that back....

Now got an Alpine 7874RB (£250)has 3 pre outs and delivers amazing power and quality.

Cost a bit more than I was originally planing to spend but the sound is now amazing.

The moral of the story is that if you're planning to build up a sound system (eventually) it pays to get a decent head unit from day one.

Definetely i rate Alpine a lot have one in my Sei loads of power and crystal clear sound, u gettin anymore ICE[?]

Yeah, got focal A130 component speakers in the front , directed amplifier 4200 and an alpine S 10 inch sub in the boot. Havent changed the rear speakers yet but no real need yet. Probably should have changed them from the start!![8D]

i go myself a pioneer DCEH8400MP CD HU. cost my 480quid from the max power show last year. and that was cheap, halfords are stilling selling the puppy for 599notes. 3 pre outs. setup for 1 sub, and other preouts for front and rear, but can be simply changed to subs on screen. and the folding action it does to show off the screen is amazing. definately recommend to anyone wanting a top notch, mp3 unit.
