Hi Guys...

I'm fairly new to these forums, but have used them thoroughly since I bought my Cinq 'S' a few months ago... with some great results, thanks!

OK, so I've got the car working just about as good as it's gonna get (although the rocker gasket and a few other bits need addressing), and have just wired up my amp that I used a few years back in my Escort Cabrio.

I'm not a big ICE fan at all, but I do like my music and thought I'd might as well beef up the tinny front speakers with my existing amp.

Firstly, I found some Sony 10cm speakers under the stairs, and easily wired them to the front pods with no probs (and way better sound quality than the Fiat standard!).

Now... last week i got to work on wiring up my amp - a SPLX 350 model. I bought a new SPL wiring kit, and routed the power lead, the remote wire, and the phono leads through the car (squeezing the power lead in through the bulkhead with the car's main red battery cable, below the R/H front speaker was tricky, but got there eventually!).

I plugged in the amp in the boot and connected the earth wire to the R/H rear seat bracket on the side of the car. This earth seems ok as the amp's green power light illuminated brighter when the connection was made! I bought a new pair of 6x9's and fixed them to the parcel shelf and wired these upto the amp (correctly, i think!).

The remaining remote wire connected fine also, i know this because the amp's power light only illuminates when the head unit power is switched on.

My problem now is that no sound is coming through the speakers at all. To try and combat this, i've tried the following:

> Several different earthing points in and around boot area.
> New spade fuse in amp.
> Changing speaker wires to different terminals.
> Using different phono slots at the rear of the head unit.
> Changing various sound settings on head unit.
> Turning up/down amp gain controls etc.

The only thing i can think of (other than a dad amp) is that there's a red light on the amp marked 'protection' which does not illuminate at any time - not being an ICE freak, i'm not sure whether this should be the case or not.

Is there anyone out there who might be able to help or suggest any ideas?

Before you suggest.. no, i don't know anyone else with an amp which i can borrow to eliminate the amp!

Cheers... and thanks for the great forum!

Carl
