Talking Alpine 9855R - Finished installing mine!

Thought id post up a couple of pics of my new head unit!..

After looking everywhere to try and find an ISO extension cable i had to make my own to be able to put the HU in the CD changer place.. Basically had to buy the 6" one from halfords and extend all the wires by about 2ft.

Glad I took my time with it now and kept going with it as it looks real good where it is.

Took my a long time to convince myself to buy it as it is quite expensive but its well worth it. Really impressed with the sound in my HGT with all standard speakers and the sub. Display on the HU looks really good and crisp. Looking forward to being able to plug my ipod into it now when i can afford the interface adaptor

A few pics

Not got the color screen.. That one cost lots of £££!! Think that one is a dvd player to rather than a CD. Has got the ipod, windows media player.. ect..

The glide touch control is ace too!.. Wasnt to sure about it to begin with but once you get used to it, its easy..!

Re: Alpine 9855R - Finished installing mine!

Hmmmm im thinking of scrapping the oem cd changer now after seeing this, can anyone suggest anything to put in its place? I already have a apline 9855 in the top slot, maybe a cd changer or an equalizer?

Cheers

Anthony

When i got my HGT it didnt have a cd changer just a empty space. So thats kinda the main reason ive put it down there. At the mo ive disconected the sat nav unit but might think about just connecting the power back to it in the future.

Got sat nav on my phone which i expect is far better so il probs just stick with that

its great to use aint it, i mainly use my alpine 9853 for ipod connectivity, saves changing cd's once a new centre console comes my way il be investing in a dvd screen for the top and putting the cd player at the bottom

Re: Alpine 9855R - Finished installing mine!

Not connected my ipod to it yet (hopefully will be soon ).. Browsing the tracks of a CD / MP3 disc is very quick. guess it depends on how it builds the catalog of tracks for you to browse. If it downloads the whole catalog to the HU for you to broswe i can imagine depending on the size of the catalog info it might take a while to load it into the HU memory.

I cant say that ive noticed anything slow about the HU. Quite amazed how quickly when you turn the ignition on that it starts to play from where it stoped last time. Is the quickest of any headunit ive used.
