ICE me up baby

I was fed up with my current speakers. Got a set of nice 10cm in the front dash hidden behind some modified speaker grills but to be honest they looked rubbish and impossible to hear on the motorway.

Old setup

I wanted a nice set of poised components and so decided to get a nice set of 17cm Infinities.
I planned to mount the speakers in the doors somehow and have the tweeters placed in the dash in new flush mounts where the old speakers are.

I've decided not to go with a sub, they are too heavy, I don't have the space and want to use the boot for practical measures and a 4 channel amp is too big to hide somewhere good and don't want the hassle of wiring it up.
Instead got a tiny vibe blackbox 1 which I can stealth away under my seat.

Didn't really have the time or trust myself with fibreglass but found a place on Italian eBay that sold special door pods for cinqs and loads of custom fab ones for other cars. They can take my nice big infinities and look like a stealth factory fit. Got them today and they look pretty nice.

Not bad quality I must say . The storage pockets are lined with velvet like material; the pods themselves are made from solid pine and overlaid with a soft textured leather effect material. Looks like they will fit alright and will add a bit of dynamat for good measure.

Re: ICE me up baby

Not actually fitted them yet but will be doing it all in august, they look like they will fit no problem being not much more protruding that the originals and the way I drive, they won't be a problem for me.

Re: ICE me up baby

Paul was telling me at Stanford that he ordered a set for his Sei, and the quality left a lot to be desired. He might have been unlucky though

Another thing I'm not too sure of is the enclosure volume - you may find that your comps won't like being in an enclosure so small. Then again, it might suit them

Yes I talked to paul about them too. Was a bit wary but thought what the hell is only 60 quid and I could do far worse bodging a fibreglass attempt. Also got some pics from peaster2k of his cinq pods and they looked allot better than what paul described. Maybe due to the sei having more curved doors they are harder to fabricate? The truth will be when I test fit them.

Re: ICE me up baby

You sure you didn't get sent cinq ones by mistake then? No wonder they wouldn't have fitted! Cross fingers anyway

Re: ICE me up baby

LOL, no they were the Sei ones, the lines followed, just not close enough and the holes for the doors weren't drilled right.

For example, can you see how you're supposed to fit them to the door?

Re: ICE me up baby

Yeh snap, they do look good but hmmm, looks like youd have to bond them to the door by the pics? BTW though, nice one on going for the infinity kappa kit, you wont be dissapointed
