Sub In Seicento

Would it be possible to make a mdf boot floor, remove the spare wheel, and then fix a sub to mdf boot floor? i realise that it would have to be a free air sub any one ever done this? any ideas/help appreciated.

Re: Sub In Seicento

Just the one?

That's two 10" subs in a sealed fibreglass enclosure.

Your plan wouldn't work.

Re: Sub In Seicento

lol good effort, all i wanna do is remove spare, build a shelf with biggest sub that will fit with sub under shelf and a perspex cover to avoid damage, but what sub should i use? i need a free air one, i looked at jbl gto1202d 15'' but will wheel well be deep enough? and enough space on shelf for it?

Re: Sub In Seicento

You'd be best doing what I did and make a fibreglass enclosure for it, will take more power and produce better bass.

I'm afraid your idea won't work.

Get your ass along to the Northern Italian Car meet at the Cornmill (see events for more info) and you can take a look at mine. It's just the enclosure right now as I'm having a total change of system, but you'll see what's needed.

Free air subs are really designed to work in saloon cars with massive sealed boots.

The best way I can describe what you're thinking of would be like mounting a speaker to a peice of wood and having someone hold it in the car. Does that make sense?

If you're just after a little more punch, then a decent 8" sub will do the trick and work in a tiny enclosure, thus taking up very little room. There's some ace 8" subs out there that will piss on some cheaper 12s.

Erm....don't think that's what Paul meant. A proper enclosure is one that is thick enough, the correct volume for the sub, braced if necessary. IMO, you can't get all 3 in over 90% of prefabbed enclosures. Build your own, really satisfying and will do the sub justice compared to a prefabbed jobbie
