The guy has a Bravo, it sounds fine with 6x9s and standard front speakers (and even better with front door speakers replaced also but let's not go there if he dosn't want to). The original headunit is rubbish though, your standard speakers alone will sound a lot better if that is replaced. I didn't want to either but was impressed when I did (y) That's probably why the 6x9s aren't putting anything out!

Sorry for the delay in reply...well am pulling in £500 a week and only paying £30 board sooo
lol i dnt care really how much, just want a crisp sound...heard i can get the standard headunit took out by fiat for free though:confused: if thats true or not i duno...

hi,

well i would upgrade front and rear speakers and then buy a new cd player and amp up all the speakers, that should give nice clear sound :)

if you buy from ebay second hand you could get higher model stuff so it sounds even better :)

just take our the stereo yourself? not hard is it? impresuming it has the 4 holes by which you poke something down them and it all clips and pulls out.

and with a bravo your need a fascia adaptor- available on ebay :)

You can change the HU yourself no problem, don't worry about the 6x9 debate  its a disease on this forum at the mo:p if all you want is a decent sound and nothing over the top just get a new HU an see where you go from there.

I would go to a local car audio center and listen to a few and decide what you like they all sound different to different people. But a good make IMO is Alpine it is was I use and thoroughly enjoy and other people I know
swear by Sony so listen read and buy what you like.

i got a alpine 4x50 watt cd player for £60 off ebay :) i think its great, but what do you want?

mp3? does it have to sound really good and look plain or does it have to have dancing monkeys on the revolving flip front in multi colours with a remote control and sound good

Well, IASCA cars have no rear speakers generally :p

Personally, I would do the following

Good quality HU
front components, suitably amped
Single 10 or 12 inch sub with a suitable amp
Good thick (not necessarily expensive) cabling

You will notice that I have omitted rear speakers. :) Personally, I wouldn't run them. Others differ in opinion, which is fine. But it's not for me. :p If you do go the rear speakers route, I would strongly suggest that you run them off the HU - you don't want all the sound coming from the back, which would almost certainly be the case if you amped them.

Oh, and if you give us an absolute ceiling budget, we'd be able to recommend stuff to you (y)

lol...i am being a bit blunt arent i... i aint bothered about all that fancy stuff. my 1st car dont want to go all out ritz sorta stuff incase(touch wood) anything happens... something plain and sounds good, so lets so a alpine(which can run mp3's) HU with alphine front conponents and 6x9s..leave standard tweeters in adn run off a hmm 800 watt amp ? which is also alpine...lol what price market am i looking at if that all looks smooth and correct

Thats why I said go to a car audio shop you can then make your mind up which you like as you said money was not an object and you can listen across the price range. I paid over £400 for mine others have paid more others less it is what you like.

No you are standing your ground you know what you want(y)

But IMO don't bother with an amp if that is your design your Head unit should be okay.plenty load enough.

Steve

PS

Check RMS out on the head units though higher the better.

Cheers, think ive had enough inspiration now to go out in the big wide world and explore the ICE....lol just wanna get everything sorted for the BrookField Convoy.....Also if any1 on this thread has a bravo how easy is it to ceil the plastic bit  where you open your bonnet, between the bonnet and the bumper..has the fiat badge inbetween in...as one side is uncliped and hanging off
