Re: Sub An Amp?

that's quite cheap, but it would be best to give us the model/link of the subwoofer so can see what it is you'll be paying for :-)

Long time no see Chan

As Atif said, a link would be nice Unless its a known make, I would avoid it
We can give you suggestions for an enclosure, amp and wiring when we know what sub we're looking at

Re: Sub An Amp?

I can reccomend the FLI subs on ebay. Designed by Vibe.

My mate has one. Nice punch for the pound!

Re: Sub An Amp?

Its worth spending good amounts of money yes they get louder and it can be all boy racer kinda image but they typically arent setup properly. you do get much better quality cheap subs just sound naff in my view. had a look around some will gladly pound all day and be loud as hell but they dont compliment the sound at all they just boom.

So post a budget up and sure someone can match an amp and sub for you.

I know alot of people will turn their nose up at this, but Ive got a VRX 600w sub and amp package in my car, the 12" version, and Ive got it turned right down so it doesnt drone or any of that crap, it compliments the other speakers, and I listen to all sorts with it, chopin, pink floyd, U2, and obviously hip hop, rock, some dance etc depends what mood Im in, but it was cheap and sounds fantastic if setup right.

Theres too much of this attitude in the Ice world. Your system is crap if it isn't the most expensive branded gear you can buy. Talkaudio forum hardly encourages the newcomer as some of the high street branded kit is dismissed out of hand. Sound is a personal thing and takes time to get it right, not always money. I do have some expensive kit in place but I have heard much better sound from cheaper equipment. The skill comes in the staging of the sound, not the wallet.

The thing with TalkAudio is that they are mostly audiophiles, therefore want touse high end gear IME they aren't particularly snobbish about budget makes, but they don't like Xplod stuff

Re: Sub An Amp?

Good point Chaos, I first went to TA for advice and all I got was suggestions for high end kit and links to CAD. They are audiophiles, well many of them are but for the newcomer it can make depressing reading when somebody disses your kit.

Incidentally, the system I thought was better than mine was mostly Sony. Says a lot for me then eh?

They link to CAD as CAD funds TA. The mods there don't allow links to CAD's competitors, which is fair enough IMO. CAD do seem to do a lot of stuff at good prices - especially their cabling TA is a good source for in depth theory if you want to go into detail
