Hi all,
Anybody got / had / know of anyone with pioneer components?
These are the ones im looking at...
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2497.html

My plan is to put 2 sets in the car - 2 mid bass drivers in each door using custom made pods, with the 4 tweeters mounted on the dash, accopanied by another 2 sets of components (one set of 4" in the dash - kicker ones, and a set of 5 1/2" infinity reference series in footwell pods.

If theres any other suggestions im open for them :) I dont want to go down the sub route, nor speakers in the rear as i dont have the space for them, but do want as much bass as i can get from them. I have 4 channels @ 75w RMS to play with, plus 4 channels @ 30w RMS.

I was looking to put in a set of JL 8" subs into the doors instead of a set of pioneer components, but i dont think i can get the volume box required.

Any fresh ideas welcome,
Luke

4 sets of components is overkill IMO. Why won't you consider a sub?
Kickbuilds are a :nono: IMO - not enough space. The only locations I can think of for speaker mounting is the standard location and the door bins a la Paulbfd.

IMO, an amped set of comps with a 10 or 12 inch sub is all you need. The money saved on not buying multiple speakers can then go more high end gear, e.g. Genesis, Diamond, etc.

Yep, not enough room

:D again

Don't think you'll get 8" subs up front, perhaps JLs 6W0's might be an alternative.

Some decent 3 ways might do the trick, but either way you'll have to get the fibreglass out and make a decent size enclosure for the midbass driver.

Why no sub? That's a poor show for the ICE mod!!!!

Keeping weight waaay done. And eventually there shall be no rear seats, and a cage taking its place, so subs not a good idea - especially as they'll be right on show and taking too much unesseary weight. Ive been there and done that with silly bass. Time for something different :)

I was considering a set of 3 ways, just my amp is too powerfull for most that ive seen if running 2 channels, and seems silly wasting a perfectly good set of 2 channels by not connecting them up :p

How about removing the centre-console and magiking up a fibre-glass enclosure for an 8"/10" sub in it's place, slightly towards the passenger footwell?

Or even on the baby-change shelf, i'm sure you could get at least an 8" sub there...

cant do anything with the center console or front dash area as im using that up with my Car PC parts :D Thats why im pretty much stuck with using the car doors to hold my speakers.

Why, what does it bridge to? I've got 150w rms available for my front comps which are rated at 100w rms, plenty of headroom.

Decent speakers should be able to take more than their rated power assuming it's a clean signal.

If you're upto fibreglassing, then a decent build should give you "modern car" sound quality with some decent 6.5" 2-ways.

When bridged, the amp gives 300w RMS per channel. 3 times the power rating of the speakers just aint a good idea, headroom or not...

my other amp is only a 2 channel, so could use that. But then its only giving 50w RMS a channel

Just leave the gain turned down ;)

What does the 30w/channel one bridge upto?

They dont bridge, those 4 channels are from the headunit :(

I dont want to spend out more than i really have to, so its too much hassle to sell my current stuff to buy some other stuff, especially when the stuff i have is decent stuff anyway.

i think its going to be a case of lowering the rating of the components to 50w RMS to use my blackbox amp. They just arent powerfull enough for the audiobahn 3 way components of got my eye on now :(

Next idea!

Does your amp (or head unit) have x-overs that will enable you to go active on your front end?

That would give a nice 75w to each component.

Nah im pretty sure they dont, bout the only thing they dont have - typical (n)

The more i think about it, the more sense it makes for me to just use the 2 channel amp as its tiny, light and doesnt take too much power - so fits my goals nicely. That way i can mount it on that silly tray under the passenger side dash for easy access to the door wiring (y)

Those original pioneer components are around the 50w RMS mark so will do ok for me i think. Mind, my set of infinity Reference components are knocking around somewhere, will have to check power ratings as they may do the job - then i have no expense at all :D
