| Opinions about this? Ok, Monday, im going to buying ICE...just thought id run these things by here, see what people thought about each thing etc. maybe change last minute? I'm getting this HU: headunit:http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/3220.html This Amp: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/2911.html and this sub: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/1923.html In the end, will have the standard component speakers which i think will do for another little while since they pretty good(plus im a bit skint!), and those 3 things i listed. Can people tell me if they think these will all be okay together, lookin at power ratings and all that stuff i dont get I listen to a lot of rock..guitar stuff..occassionally hip hop, bass stuff, so think these will suit me?Thanx in advance for any views/suggestions

| ...done | Re: Opinions about this? liking the headunit... i have a kenwood KDC something, and highly rate it, really easy to use / tune to just how u want it. however, that sub and amp combo will not work.... that amp is a 4 channel, and therefore can be bridged to make a 2 channel (+ from one side, - from the other making 2 instead of 4) and so cannot be used to run a single sub.... unless u are not using half of the amp. u will need a 2 channel or mono amp to run a single sub. keepin with JBL this will be fine for your needs http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/2910.html the bass wont be huge.. but it will hit plenty hard enough. as for the sub, the general rule of thumb about sizes is that the smaller the sub, the more punchy the bass.... generally if u listen to a lot of dance music with a short repetitive bass line, then a 10 would be best, goin all the way upto drum + bass with long drawn out rolling bass lines with a 15" sub, i listen to a bit of both and have found that a 12 works for me, but it is totally upto u, personally i think rock music would sound better through a 10".... and remember u will need a wiring kit for the amp as well... another 30 odd quid! any help?

| Re: Opinions about this? The ratings for the amp (albeit at the magical 14.4v) match the sub perfectly. As Mase pointed out though, it's a 4 channel amp which will leave you 2 spare, ideal for powering a set of components up front. If you can, I'd try and get it drive the factory front speakers too as it will provide a much clearer and powerful signal than the head unit. With subs there are a few things (a bit of "generalisation") to think of: Smaller subs are more musical, bigger subs bassy. Sealed enclosures are more musical, ported more bassy. Sealed enclosures are smaller, ported are bigger. If you want it "as the artist intended" then the 10" sealed would probably suit you best. If you want it to pound, then go for a 12" in a ported enclosure.

| Re: Opinions about this? Thanx for the great replies guys, being really helpful here Yeh, i'm def. sticking to 10" sub...actual size is good for me and i think it would meet my needs best And i was hoping to get the existing components set up to the amp...and def. so when i get new components(will be sticking to 13cm-i'm looking for "nice" sound, not something mad, so think it will be fine). So the question now is, to run components and sub through an amp, a 2 channel amp will be fine? ie. the JBL one Mase suggested? Sorry to go on, just trying to understand it..then can carry on with finally getting it!

| Re: Opinions about this? No, keep to your original plan of a 4 channel amp. Use 1 pair for the front (ie, one left, one right!) then bridge the other pair for the sub. With most amps it is possible to "bridge" 2 channels into one mono channel. Doing this usually increases amount of output also, in the case of that JBL amp, it goes from 104 x 2 to 284 x 1. 104 x = 208 but notice you actually get more by bridging it? And do worry about "going on", best to get it first first time fella When you get some new comps in there, you'll have a great system for the £££ you've spent.
