Hello all!

I have an 05 Fiat Punto, it came with the standard tape player (Blaupunkt head unit). I bought a JVC MP3 player (JVC KD-G402) from eBay and went to fit it this weekend but had a few troubles. Basically the blocks that the wires connect into the back of the head unit where different. I hope I got this right but here is what I remember they both look like:

I tried swapping the Pink White to where the red went on the JVC block, it worked when the ignition was off but as soon as I started the engine the MP3 player turned off :(

I thought I might have wired it wrong but I tried various different combinations but couldn't get it to work. Does anyone have any advice/experience they wouldn't mind sharing, I'm very new to these types of things but would like to get it sorted.

Many thanks in advanced for any help you could give.

Assuming the JVC uses ISO standards, the red wire is the switched live, the yellow is continous power. Black is ground, blue is power arial and orange is switched illumination.

The yellow wire should have a continous power feed. You can also make the red wire continous too (should be a connector half way down the yellow wire, and bullet end in the red wire somwhere). But to stop you having a headache, you can just buy an adapter which turns fiat fitment into an ISO fitment :)

Hi, I have the same problem, got a 04 ounto with standard cd player tried many combinations but still can't get my jvc head unit to work with the wiring, where can I get a harness adapter from to make it work?, so i dont have to cut any wires.

The adapter sounds great, where can I buy one of those?

Thanks for all your help so far.

A mate of mine helped me sort this without a new converter.

Basically, on the old Punto wires I removed the Pink/White and added it to the White/Red and put a new wire in the top right (where the red is on the ISO block) and put the white/red and pink/white in there too. It now works great.

To summaries:

Old Punto connection

New Connection:

Hope this helps someone.
