So I've bought a Punto (55) second hand, and all works great except for the stereo. It's an add-on and whilst it all works, CD-Player, sound etc, I just cannot get any radio frequencies. All I hear is a static sound regardless of FM, AM, MW etc.

As a complete novice to this, I tried pulling out the unit but immediately got overwhelmed by the sheer number of wires etc and didn't want to reduce the functionality of the unit further. So, off the top of ones head, what would YOU do in my situation. I appreciate it's all subjective, but even a starting point would be great. I have ZERO idea where to even begin!

Many thanks :)

Welcome to the forum.

Getting the radio out is a great starting point, there will be a large black wire on it's own. It's going to be one of these connectors (can't remember which).

If it's not connected that'll be why ;)

Hi!

Thanks for the welcome :) It is indeed one of those connectors. From what I can tell, it is 'in'. Should it fit and not move at all? I can twist it when it's in the hole... Oh man, I'm making this sound interesting...

I was reading up on adapters. Could it be that i need an adapter? I'm showing my lack of knowledge here :)

Yeah being able to rotate it is normal, if that's connected then you shouldn't need an adaptor as I've only ever seen the above 2 types. It could be that the actual wire to the antenna on the roof is damaged, or indeed that the antenna itself is faulty. Not sure how to test that though.

The other possibility is that the stereo is a Euro, Jap or US model and is tuned to their frequencies. Adaptors can be bought to get around this.
