'Radio blocked/Wait' message is on after inputting wrong code.

I know the time to wait lengthens each time you try enter a wrong code. But, does that time count down every time you drive the car?
i.e if the wait time is say 2 hours will you be able to enter a code after 6 separate 20 minute drives?
Or
Does the car have to run continuously for over two hours before allowing a code to be entered.
The 'Radio blocked/Wait' message was showing when I got the car so I don't know what the waiting time is up to. Is there any way to find out?

It's a 1.2 500 by the way.

Thanks in advance
Chris

The radio and ignition need to be switched on continuously for the waiting time.

Waiting time depends on how many times you've tried an incorrect code as follows.

Thanks
Is it at all harmful to leave the ignition on for long periods?
I remember in older cars it used to damage the coil.

Mine isn't showing the number of vain attempts

Older cars used contact breaker points to switch the coil. If you left the ignition switched on, and the points happened to be closed the last time you switched the engine off, the coil would be permanently energised and could overheat.

All current cars, and most since the early 1980s, use electronic ignition that only switches the coil(s) when the engine is turning.

If the display doesn't show the number of vain attempts, you will need to leave the radio and ignition switched on until the display shows " CODE ", then " - - - - ", then enter the code.

I have the same problem. My bosch radio keeps reading code error and won't let me input the code. I can't leave the radio on for more than 20 mins because it turns off automatically. What can I do?

It's worked for some people to disconnect the battery for 20 mins. It didn't work for me.
