| Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII Hi, I have a Fiat Punto MK II, 01 reg. I have a Sony Xplod Stereo and have recently bought a Kenwood KFC-FPU-200 speaker set. I have installed the front speakers with no problems. When it comes to installing the rear speakers, I have fitted them under the speaker in grilles in the rear of the car, but I can't seem to find any speaker cables in order to connect them up. Any idea where I can find these? There is a wire on the right hand side of the car near to where the right speaker is fitted, but it has just a white wire and a red wire and I'm not really sure what it is for?! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, James.

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII When I installed the head unit, I think there were red and white wires on that. But I'm not sure what the wires are for in the rear of the car, because the connector that it on them is smaller than the one that connected to the speakers in the front of the car and it is only on the right hand side?!

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII The speaker set should have come with wire for the speakers, best to run the wires from the headunit to the rear speakers.

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII Ok. So you don't think those wires in the back are anything to do with speakers then? I wonder what they could be for... I haven't got a clue about getting wiring from the front of the car to the back so have you got any advice? Cheers for you time!

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII no problem, ive just got my punto too(first car) been a good experience wiring stuff up etc. Best panels Ive found to take of are the silver surround around the cdplayer, then youll know yourself how to get your cdplayer out, once thats out I take off the air vent bit directly below, it's held on with 2 screws I think behind the big silver cdplayer surround. Once thats off go down to the floor, take off the panel to the left of the pedals, thats held on with 1 screw youll need an alan key to get off. Now take off the panel to the right of the steering whell infront of the bonnet release thing, thats held on with 2 big half turn screw things, use a knife or flat head screwdriver, all these are easy to get off. Next take off the door sill, its held on with 2 screws, one down directly below that last panel I said to take off, near the floor, and another near the pillar next to the driver seat facing up towards you, then it pulls off from a few clips easy enough. Now your ready to run wires basicly, what I done was drop the wires down from the cdplayer hole straight down, youll see what I mean, theres a clear drop from there to the floor through the panels youve removed down the right, just dangle the wires down and grab them with your hand down next to the pedals. Next look through the panel you took off last, through so you can see past the fuse box and through past the steering wheel bottom etc, theres a hole near the back thats easy to run the cables through, run them through from the back to the front here, past the front of the fuse box then down behind the carpet to the door sill and through here. BTW might sound confusing but itll all fall into place when you see it. When youve ran through the door sill what I done was lift the back seats, then directly behind the driver seat just up from the passenger floor theres plastic panelling that you can run the wires under and they will come out under the back seats, from there its easy to get them under the backrests and into the boot area. Then it's up to you really to tidy the cables as much as you want to make them invisible Hope this helps.

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII Right, I've checked and there definitely is no wiring, cos I let my Dad have a look too. What kind of wire do I need to buy and also what kind of length did you use mate? Cheers

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII Sorry to be a pain, just thought of something else too. For the wires that are running to the rear, where do I connect them up on the back of the stereo? My Stereo is a Sony CDX-5500 and it supports up to 4 speakers. I just wondered how I would connect the wires to the ISO plug so that it is done correctly, with Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right etc. Cheers.

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII K well speaker cabling from any auto store will be good, get good stuff though, youll regret getting cheaper stuff later. Your unit will have instructions that say what pin does what, for example on my headunit, a kinda mincy JVC thing lol it has 2 iso connector plugs, one is white and has all the power cables etc so forget that, the other is black and has the speaker cables. The pins on my headunit are setup so its like :::: 8 pins, 2 for each channel, rear right, front right, front left, rear left in that order, and the top pin is + and bottom is - thats how it works on mine, your unit will have instructions that say if yours is different. Now comes the point I'm stuck at, my ISO black connector plug thing doesnt have any clips in it to clip the wires into, so Ive had to ghetto connect the wire ends and tape them up to try hold them in place etc, but if I go over a bump in the road when Im driving I know its gonna cut out, so Im gonna have to buy an adapter kit of some sort, be careful of this yourself 'cause you might be in the same predicament, its a pain ![]() edit: is this yours? if so heres the guide: http://www.sonydigital-link.com/Shar...3261933111.pdf look down the bottom right of page 1, gives you all the info there on the channels and pins.

| Re: Connecting up Rear Speakers in Punto MKII That is great thanks mate. Ah right, I see what you mean about connecting them to the ISO plug, I think mine has clips. That is a pain that yours hasn't. I'll get some cable later and I'll give it a go next weekend when I have a bit more time, should be a a good experience anyway hehe. Cheers, and good luck with your stereo. P.S. Yeah that is my stereo, good work mate
