Re: power invertor

What wattage is the device Gaz? See the label on it, if it gives you only a amperage that will do. If none, tell us what the device is.

Re: power invertor

i think they start from 150w rated, It really depends on what you want to run on it,

150w would be suitable to run a laptop from i beleive but anything like a powerdrill/washing machine/lawnmower would need a higher ratingthan 150w

Re: power invertor

Even a kettle or (not sure this matters to Gaz ) a hairdrier uses above 300W. Typically a kettle is about 2kw (i think) and a hairdrier is 1.2Kw. It's also important to know what actual item you're using as some simply won't work with the majority of invertors (to do with the sine wave they produce).

Re: power invertor

yup, some things dont like 'modified' sine waves. Your about right re kettles - but they have heating elements in so what do you expect!

My invertor does 800w continous and 1200w peak, and it says with regards to power consumption - for every 10w output you want, it'll need 1A input. So mine is getting some phat cabling put in.

Not that i use it for anything.. but its there should i need it

Re: power invertor

Pretty much all is covered
I'll just add, if you do find the one you need (rating wise) check out Maplins to buy them - they've proven to be cheap a while ago when i got one.

Re: power invertor

imo you'd be better off buying a fridge designed for 12v, a kettle designed for 12v, and a laptop charger designed for 12v

i got a booster box thing. has jumpleads on it a tyre pump a light and a 300w inverter.

i would think you could wire yours from amp wire thing, but an extra fuse always helps stop bad things happerning

Re: power invertor

i think the invertor might have a fuse or something like that on it, well it says it got a overload protection, so i assume it stops working if something bad happens to it

cheers everyone for the help - just thought do these things run playstations too
