Lightbulb punto rear speaker upgrade

I know i should really post this in the ICE section, but as it's a Mrk 1 Punto that i own, i thought i'd might as well post here, as you guys probably have the answer.

My question is, is it worth getting speaker adaptors for the 10cm rear speakers on a 55sx punto and upgrade to 13cm ones. Would the 13cm speakers give deeper base than a set of new 10cm ones. The thing that puzzles me is, i found some 10cm speakers with a rating of 110W and some 13cm ones with the same value, would the 13cm ones give more base (bass).

Im not into putting in 6 x 9's or anything like that, just interested in getting a decent deep sound if possible with the existing speaker housings.

Cheers

Re: Hmmm?

The short rule: The bigger the cone, the deeper the bass - as they have more surface area to move air creating soundwaves

So yes, 13cm ones will give lower bass than 10cm ones.

1 thing tho, dont expect great bass from either as they are the wrong type of speaker to produce those sounds. They're generally made for all frequencies therefor when turned up loud they distort due to them having to cover too much of the audio range at once. Using crossovers with High Pass Filters stop the distortion on bass notes as it reduces the frequency range, allowing you to add other speakers to handle the lower frequencies.

Anyways im wandering besides teh point

Red face Re: punto rear speaker upgrade

Sorry for the dodgy name of the post and where i put it. But cheers for the help. I know the 10 & 13cm speakers won't give mega bass, i just somethin that sounds better than the original crappy Nokia ones. So 13cm ones are the ones to go for over the 10cm ones then.

Cheers
