Hey everyone, just looking for a quick answer to my question which is do i have to use a CD-IU50 cable to connect my iphone to the pioneer head unit deh-4200sd or can I use any cable such as the one I use for charging my iphone??

I ask because i don't want to fork out extra money which could be used else where and the CD-IU50 cable which pioneer say you need looks the same as any other ipod cable.

I will have to have a look at the products when I get to work but obviously the iPod end of the cable will always be the same. It's at the HU end where the differenc is. Pioneer normally use their IPbus input which is specific to pioneer.

Ok, thanks. But then iv got another question, As theirs a USB port on the head unit face could I just use any ipod cable and plug it into there?

Possibly, why dont you give it a go. I dont think that it would charge or control the ipod though.
