So ive finished my install to the degree where it plays music, however i am slightly let down by the components up front, they dont seem to kick very much atall, the tweets are loud and sharp but the mids barely move, just vibrate. The sub punches like **** haha and im enjoying it but i just expected so much more from the comps. It's come down to setting the amp up properly now with some know how from some boffins (i.e you lot, and stu haha). Just so you know the components are Focal 165VR and the amp running them is a Genesis Profile 4 ultra. Components are running actively and are being run of Van Damme speaker cable. Here are some pictures of the settings ive had them on for the past few hours messing around (please understand all this frequency stuff goes way over my head so the knobs are all over the place (weey ;) ) any help much appreciated, how do i set it up for optimum clarity up front?

The first pic. Is that the side you have your tweets on?
If so then button in (x20) and set to around 125hz and tune to preference.

The second pic for mids?
HPF 60hz tune to pref between 50-80hz
LPF (if the instructions say the x1 x10 filter is for LPF only) then button in and 250hz

Set the gain by turning all the way down (3v). Turn the Hu about 3/4 volume and then turn the gain up (towards 0.3) until you get a bit of distortion and then turn it back a small notch to be safe.

Can you get a pic of the full panel of the sub amp and how many channels does it have
One thing that i can say is you need it set to LPF not full and turn the bass boost down.
I hope that i have it correct. I have never used a Genny amp with that LPF set up. Only DLS which is quite different.

I THINK i have the channels running one tweet and one mid each so that's thats where ive ****ed up a bit. Ill get them both into there ports and tune to those settings and see what happens mate. Thanks alot. Ill do the gains trick aswell. What about head unit settings man?

From memory i have:

Bass Db, Bass frequency and band width maybe?

I have treble amount, treble frequency and something else?

Also i have subwoofer phase 180 degress of 0. 0 sounds much better so ill leave it at that.

Set everything to zero on the HU for now. So custom eq and all on 0. Learn the basics on the amps and then you can start looking into filtering and setting the HU.

ok mate cool. cheers. Gunna do all this tommorow morning/afternoon to the delight of the people who live around me.

So tommorow i need to sort out the rca's, channels for the speakers, settings on the amps and tidy up. Sorted.

Dont forget to check that the x10 doesnt affect the HPF on the mid side. If it does then you will have to start using the X-over on your HU and ill be damned if i know how to do it on an Alpine lol. Ive never owned one.
