| | This was a last resort as i have tried many things.... basiclly, i have a cheap little head unit from Maplin... it has 2 outputs on the back for amplifiers... i have a Mutant NW280SP amplifier and 2 x JBL GT5-12 Subwoofers... I am having a problem that there is no audio coming from the subs at all, however the amp powers up fully ... i have tried a different Mutant NW280SP ... but it also doesnt work... also tried new subs, i know they work as ive tried them in a friends car... ive tried new RCA cables... and a new headunit aswel... no luck... can somebody please help as i have no idea how to fix it and it is now racking my brain like mad!! Any help is appreciated! Thanks in Advance PS - The amp does have a decent ground and remote... Billy

| | Re: Amplifier Powers up but no sound!! The two outputs on the rear of the headunit. What exactly are they? eg front and rear etc. Do you have the model number of the headunit so we can look at the specs etc online?

| | Hey... thank you for the reply.. but seems i didnt think to check the fuse in the cap under the bonnet... i thought the amp was getting power so didnt think to check it.... however it was only getting the power from the headunit... i didnt think of this!... changed the fuse and its pumping now.... but i have a quick question.... How would i wire up 2 amps to the car... with one power cap in the middle of that.... Do i run 2 cables from battery or can i just run series from the first amp or just run straight from the power cap .. i only have one power cap... anybody with some instructions would help! =) thanks in advance! Billy

| | Re: Amplifier Powers up but no sound!! Your not going to get much of a benefit from a capacitor. The power cap just needs to be before the subwoofer amp if your going to fit one. Better off running 1 thicker power cable and putting a distribution block at the end with 2 cables going to the amps. 1 with the capacitor in between. Dan

| | Re: Amplifier Powers up but no sound!! but would i go from the capacitor into a dist. box... then to the amps... or would i need two power caps after the dist. box ?

| | Re: Amplifier Powers up but no sound!! It doesnt really matter which way round you do it. Have you managed to make any sound yet. You have checked that you are not trying to run the amp at an impedance that it is not compatible with i.e 1 or 8 ohms.
