Re: This Vs This

not much difference really. the second package has a dual voice coil and higher wattages on the sub, however there both using the same amp so power-wise there wont be any difference. if you are looking to upgrade the amp in the future for a more suited amp then the second package has a more flexible sub.

Re: This Vs This

Yeah tis the same deal really you wont want to put more power with a different amp through those subs really. Its a shame they dont have a clue what they are on about. How to you prewire 2 2ohm coil to show 4ohms.
There is a possibilty that they have got this the wrong way round and it has 2 4ohm coils wires to show 2ohm's which would mean that the amp will show more power than the other so perhaps ring them up and find out.

They do do amp packages that have four channels so i would be more tempted to go for that then you can amp up you speakers for the sake of £10-20 i know you said no suggestions but i have installed that sort of kit 100's of times (maybe a slight exageration) and for the dosh you do get a lot of bang and if you are trying to run it with standards you wont here any Mid or Trebble.

Surely a DVC 2 ohm wired in series would give 4 ohms?

Re: This Vs This

Bass wise would it be very loud and deep and noticeable? If not would it be if it was in a ported box?

Re: This Vs This

A ported box will give more noise, but its less controlled so the sound quality goes, unless you get a very well designed and tuned system.... Personally I always use sealed enclosures, and my system (10" Cervin Vega) will still rattle the windows if I want it to, whilst giving the nice tight "musical" basslines that actually make the tracks sound better!

If I was buying either set up, I'd go for the DVC option, purely because it'll give you more options in the future if you wanted to upgrade your system. For the same reason, I'd also be tempted to dump that wiring kit and run something a bit bigger, that way if you decide to amp up your front speakers, you're not going to have to run a new power cable.

I think if i ring up they can upgrade it to a 4awg kit for a bit more cash. If they dont i can get one for £10 anyway. I will never amp my front speakers though, but i am going to buy some coaxials for them (6.5inch) as the stock ones are breaking down. They will be a slight improvement at least.

Nope thats where your wrong most of the distortion is from the HU and i wouldnt recommend you buy a 12" sub to go with HU amp'd speakers it just dont work like that.

Its a Sony HU. On the Corsa forum someone installed some coaxials to go with his sub and said it sounds great.
