| Hi all, A week or so ago my stereo just died for no reason, thought it was the stereo so bought another one, then found that the new one didn't work either. Basically what happens is that the stereo is just dead, no power at all. I have taken out all the fuses and checked them and they are all fine. The only one that seems to keep on blowing is the ceiling light one? I can't seem to work out why. Is this connected to the stereo? Have looked through the handbook and nowhere does it state a fuse for the stereo? Checked all fuses inside and under the bonnet and they are all fine Any ideas why it wouldn't be getting any power or why the ceiling light fuse would keep on blowing? Its driving me crazy not having a stereo!!! Thanks ![]()

| Re: Fiat Punto mkII 2000 stereo No power?? i think IIRC that light fuses and stereo' are on the same loop ![]() So if the lights blown - stereo' wont work either Ziggy

| FFFTW! | Re: Fiat Punto mkII 2000 stereo No power?? Yep - Fuse 39 - Powers front light, boot light, diagnostics socket and headunit. You must have a short somewhere. I'd be tempted to disconnect the connectors to both lights and replace the fuse. If it doesn't blow, the short is in one of the lights. That will narrow down your search.

| Re: Fiat Punto mkII 2000 stereo No power?? Just took out the ceiling light and neither of the bulbs look like they are blown. So where is this fabled diagnostics socket and what do i need to do if it is broken? Thanks

| Re: Fiat Punto mkII 2000 stereo No power?? diagnostic socket is in the fusebox on the drivers side. when does the fuse blow? does it happen when the ceiling light should be on - does it blow when the door is opened for example? or the boot? or when you turn the stereo on? you could completely unplug the ceiling light as suggested above then replace the fuse and test the stereo. I know some stereos wire slightly differently, yellow and red joined for some, could this be the cause or some kind of shorting? or arching?

| Re: Fiat Punto mkII 2000 stereo No power?? Just took out the ceiling lights and it seems to be my stereo that everytime i plug it in it seems to blow the fuse. Guess there must be a short somewhere inside the stereo which is causing it? Thanks alot for the help anyways been really useful! Maybe i'll have a stereo working tomorrow!! ![]()
