Take it my AMP is duffed?

Right, had a few issues recently with the sound in my car. I have a cheap Vibe BlackBox I amp that i use to give my 6x9's a bit of ooomph. The trouble is, a while back i noticed my bass went, so I assumed it was the speakers, faffing around with all the setttings on the amp to try get it back.

But the other day I unplugged one of the 6x9s, from the speaker, and the bass on the other speaker came back, the sound was much more punchy, like all the power just came back.

I then assumed one of the speakers had gone, but testing the other speaker in the same way it had regained its bass and punch also.

Plugging both 6x9's in results in the bass going and sounding a bit thinner. Guessing its the amp?

Confused as I don't want to replace a component whats not faulty.

Cheers,
MiG

Like I always say....check the earth.

Always the best place to start. Earth wire could have been damaged or not a good enough connect.

Other than that I would say amp like

Re: Take it my AMP is duffed?

Sounds like you have a loose RCA Cable possibly.

Yeah it will sound like it is working fine for a while but really it will be clipping but a good amp should cut out before too much damage is done. If it doesnt cut out then eventually it will burn out the paper printed parts of the circuitry which depending on the price of the amp can be cost affective to fix unlike 99% of other ways of damaging sound systems.
