Re: Punto MK2 Setup

Like everyone else said £25 wont get you anywhere the cheapest set of comps that i have ever seen that are actually any good are the Infinity ones.
If it really sounds that bad it could be that there is no baffle and you would be better off spending your money on some sound prrofing and making a couple of rings of MDF. If you spend yo money on that then that will help and it will be usefull if you do decide in a couple of weeks time to upgrade then you have done something useful that you aint just gonna leave in the garage or wotnot.

Re: Punto MK2 Setup

Oh and all this everybody expecting to have a done up car in five minutes like on pimp my ride really annoys me.
The everyday person has too save money and wait. Hell ive had the car just shy of a year and im no where near finnished the part that im really into (the ICE)
And although i may have spent a fair bit I havnt noticed it because of the time i still have enough money for the WE. This is how i believe it should be done not to have mum and dad pay for a car send i to the shop for a Cr*p chav kit and a potentially good audio install that sounds crap because the "Pro" that they paid to fit it ripped them off.

Also i havnt actually spent as much as you would really think for what i have actually got. If you dont mind things not matching shop around and take your time. I.e

Mac Audio Fearless 1 amp 1000w RMS @1Ohm = £300
DLS A7 Amp and Morell speakers (running 200w RMS) Per speaker = £400
Kicker L5 15" (Soon to be L7) = £130
Blaupunkt Cassablanka = £100 Factory Refurb an no probs
Power cap (for voltmeter) = Free
2GHZ 120GB 1Gig Carputer= £300
8" Touchscreen already moulded into Facia with loads of extras= 100
Materials and build = Free until i have to go buy chipboard for new build = Free
Wiring for all= +/-£250 Bit much i know but didnt want internet bought crap so i swallowed my pride and bout autoleads from local dealer.
Amount of beer whilst working on with mates=£hundreds

You can't blast people for paying other people to do it. Not everyones skilled, or has the time.

I spent a good 2 weeks preping the car, running new wires taking of trims etc and haven't been able to touch it for the last 3 months. So I woulnd't even wanna think about your job in hand.

Thats exactly what i mean we all know nothing when we start and i havnt really done a lot to mine recently (over the winter its too cold and im a wuss)
But thats ok because you dont have to do it all quickly it should be an interest not something that you want too show off and beat the other Chavs (not that im not a bit of a chav).

Yep will have a look and let you know to mo. If you dont mind going second hand and waiting a while im sure that some will turn up just make sure that if you do buy second hand speakers it is from a reputable source.

Re: Punto MK2 Setup

Just a quickie on the paying someone else to do it thing.

I've done my own installs in the past, messed about with MDF, fibreglass, vinyl and glue. Created a right mess in the garage, annoyed the neighbours circular sawing at 11pm and made door builds that looked great but wouldn't allow the doors to shut!

Loved every minute of it.

However, my current install has been done by Source in Sheffield.

It cost me a LOT of money, I didn't have to go as far as I did with equipment and install but it's what I've wanted pretty much ever since I've was 17 and will enable me (hopefully) to compete and be reasonably successful.

What they have done is created a system that moves you everytime you listen to it and if I never win anything I couldn't care less. It's changed my entire outlook on music in general. There's no way I would ever buy an album by Beth Rowley to listen to in the gym!

Enjoy your audio, wether it's £30 Fusions or £1200 Hertz Milles.
