nooby advice needed please:)

ok i have standard blaupaunkt speakers in my punto. the headuni is blaupunkt too but not the standard punto one.

now and then my left and rear speakers stop working and if switch my cd player off and back on they tend to come back on normal.

any way of finding out if my speakers are on there way out?or is it just bad connections?

if i need new speakers i just would like standard speakers to replace them.i dont want 1 million watts hahahaha.just a decent replacement that work.

dont want to spend too much, besides halfords...any ideas where i can get cheaper speakers?

also does it make any diffrence if the speakers are a different brand to the headunit. e.g sony speakers with my blaupunkt cd player.

thank you.

Re: nooby advice needed please:)

doesnt sound like theyre done. generally if a speaker is on its way out they start to crackle and then die completly. they dont intermittenly work and then dont.
sounds like a fauly connection. try some contact cleaner on the ISO block behind the stereo and at the speaker connections.
also check that they speaker connections arent shorting or touching anything else as this could cause this

it doesnt make a difference if the brands are different. the speakers you choose depends on your desired sound: bass / clarity etc

theres no point in replacing them with standard speakers, aftermarket speakers will be a big improvment, theyre much more readily available and likely to be cheaper than a dealer

cheap speakers can be got online, all ICE dealers will be around the same sort of price bracket. second hand ones are dodgy as they may be blown etc
