CD ERROR using MP3 CD

Hi All

I have just got a 07 reg Fiat Grande Punto Sporting M-Jet. It doesnt have an MP3 logo on the stereo but it wont play my old MP3 discs that I used to play through my Kenwood MP3 Head Unit. I always thought I was buying a car with MP3 built in, but now im guessing it hasnt? When i try using my old MP3 cds it says CD Error. Normal cds are fine. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

Re: CD ERROR using MP3 CD

right there could be two possibilities

1 , the mp3 logo could refer to a possible aux in that your car has to play external mp3 players

2 , aftermarket units tend to be more powerful allowing many formats so your songs may be in wma or aac format which the fiat stereo wont recognise

Re: CD ERROR using MP3 CD

Thanks for the reply J0nny but my head unit doesnt have an mp3 logo. This is a standard head unit im using here, my old kenwood head unit was installed in my old car. I have tried with pure mp3s and as the guide suggested no brackets () etc. I even tried a USB stick in the blue and me usb port and even that says no media. Whats the deal? Im not doing anything different to what Im used to. There's something im no doing right, ie burning the disc...software etc....???

Any other views?

G

MP3 CD's wont work unless you have a MP3 logo on your standard radio. I would use the USB for MP3 tracks, if not just make normal CD's.

Re: CD ERROR using MP3 CD

o sorry i missed that part. if it doesnt say mp3 then it defnitly wont play it. manafactureres and dealers usually make a big deal if theyve an mp3 stereo etc so if its not advertised or was mentioned to you the car wouldnt have it

the usb stick is bound to be able take it as digital format is the only way to put music on it. makes sure the music isnt contained in sub folders or theres other non mp3 files in the stick
