Re: Code for CD changer

you need a code for a cd changer???

these arent usually coded. its the head units that are coded, the head units just have to have the ability to read the cd changer

gonna have 2 go in2more detail, what changer? what head unit? lol

if its a head unit then get your model and serial number and fone fiat service line and they can usually generate a code, if not some motor factors offer a decoding service for around 20 quid

Re: Code for CD changer

Hah just found this thread was very drunk last night i think that i got somebody to type it for me cant really remember.
But yeah i have a Blaupunkt 5 CD changer as i asked my mate to nick the surround that it go's in from work and he ended up getting the CD changer too.
I have plugged it in and it just comes up with CD Error or something like that so i was was thinking that perhaps it needs a code or something.
I very much doubt that it was damaged in the accident of the car that it came out of as it only had rear damage.

Re: Code for CD changer

you just pluggin it into the standard HU?

tbh i know these din slot 5 disc changers had a lot of bother, i keep getting people in looking me to fix them. you usually see them snapped up very quickly in ebay

tho i didnt think there was a code for them, tho someone else may shed some light on that

Re: Code for CD changer

Well im not sure that you do need a code and it does do its thing it just comes up with Disk error.
This quite a strange one as when i tried to connect my old one that i had in the Punto on this unit never worked either it just said something like loading and nothing else.
I will be selling it for my mate but i want to be sure that it all works fine first though.

Re: Code for CD changer

yea thats defnitly a good day or we could have another paypal dispute lol

take it to a motor factors place that offers decoding and see if they can do anything. the error says fault with the unit to me as any time ive seen a unit need a code it says that clearly on the front to show that the unit is still working but just in need for unlocking

Yep sounds like this could be the problem its just puzzles me as to why my punto had a radio code.

Re: Code for CD changer

you mean a code for a punto cd changer?

if this is the case then you could be right, fiat may do things different. though this would defnitly create some problems with 2nd hand listings on ebay

though if it did require a code, it may say so

another though, it isnt cd-r or anything, try and original disc as some old changers can only play authetic discs due to the way theyre burned

Re: Code for CD changer

I just think that it may be faulty i used the CD's that the previos owner left in it so i asume that they worked when they had it.
