sub space

ok people i need help.
I'm really retarded about all this ice stuff but i want my system to sound good. i've got a Bravo and i want to fit a decent sub, however i need my boot space and i dont really want to remove my rear seats is there any place i can fit one? or if it has to go in the boot whats the smallest one i can get that will sound good?

i've already replaced my door speakers with infinity 13cm and will be fitting some 6x9s in the parcel shelf soonish. then the plan is to buy an mp3 player to replace the standard stereo. will i need an amp?

please help

Hi,

you can put a sub where ever you want, but they'll always get in the way. Thats why the boot is usually the best place, it doesnt get in the way of you or the passengers. You could try a sub tube, I've never heard one myself, but I cant see why they wouldnt work well. Has anybody else ever used one? what are they like?
Yes, if your running a sub, you will need an amp, I'd also recomend you amplify your 6x9's aswell, they'll go just that much better...

I'd find out about that kind of system, personaly.

Cheers,

Matt

I build custom ice installs as a 2nd income, if you have any further questions feel free to ask, but to start I'll have a go at answering your questions!

1)If you're running a sub, you will definately need an amp of some sort. As Matt said above, you will get better sounds from your 6x9's if you run those from an amp too... For this, you will need an amp that has multiple channels, or (ideally, but more costly) a mono-channel amp for 6x9's and another for the sub.

2)Regarding Sub sizes, in general the larger you go the deeper the bass... 10" subs will be more suited to lighter fast bass, whilst for that hard Drum n Bass feel you really want 15" subs [):]... 12" subs are the ideal compromise if you have varied musical tastes, and they are fairly flexible in how/where you fit them as they aren't the largest subs in the world!!

3)If you want boot space, there are several options you can go for, either Auto Acoustics custom sub enclosures (cost around £140 new for the Bravo/Brava) or you can make your own fibre glass cast of your wheel arches, and make yourself your own sub boxes You will find it difficult to get anything in larger than 12" though. Its simple enough, and I can email you a step-by-step guide if you're feeling adventurous! Failing that, have you thought of fitting two small subs in your glovebox? I have fitted a single 6" sub in my Punto glovebox, just to balance out the bass between my front speakers and rear boot install, and it still leaves me with enough space to fit my sunglasses and documents in there with it!

4) Amps can be tucked away under seats, or if you get an MDF custom Parcel shelf, or an Auto Acoustics stealth shelf (I know I mentioned them before, but they are really good products and come ready to fit :)), you could always make your amp a feature, and mount it either on top of or suspended from your parcel shelf...

Hope this helps, if you want any more info, or a little professional expertise, just ask!!!:p

wow pete your a genius![:X]thanks for your help i've looked on the auto acoustics website and the boxes look really good. I think i will make my own parcel shelf though(i'm a dab hand with a bit of mdf and a jigsaw!)i'll hang my amp from that but put a little mesh round it to protect it from all the knocks and scrapes it would receive.

once again thanks for your help
And look out for me as i'm bound to post another retarded message up here soon! :p
cheers
