| Hills are my enemy! | Battery drain after amp install Hi guys, Just installed a Mutant nw280sp amp and it was working fine when I installed it a few days ago. I will freely admit that I don't use my Sei as often as I really should and when I tried to start her up this morning the battery was as dead as the proverbial doornail. The multimeter confirmed that - even with the engine and headunit off - there was still power being channelled through the amp. Ideally I would get a better amp (since that one cost me less then £20). Would it be the amp itself that is causing the power drain, or have I perhaps missed something else along the way? Cheers in advance

| Ah. Not good... | Re: Battery drain after amp install Are you sure that all power to the amp is cut when the ignition is off, i.e. the remote wire is wired correctly? | ||

| Hills are my enemy! | Re: Battery drain after amp install Yep, remote is wired correctly. Checked the voltage on that and 0 when HU off, 10-12 when HU on. However, that doesn't stop the main power line feeding power to the amp, which it then just channels to the ground.

| Re: Battery drain after amp install where are u taking the reading from? theres always going to be power at the + terminal of an amp unless u decide to put a switch in the wire

| Hills are my enemy! | Re: Battery drain after amp install Tbh it was a buddy of mine doing the testing so I'm not 100% sure where it was taken from, most likely the +ve terminal as he did suggest a switch. In that case though - as there were no problems prior to installation - what could have caused the power drain ?

| Re: Battery drain after amp install did your mate measure the voltage or amp draw? you are bound to have voltage at the terminal.. its if its actually drawing any current your going to have a problem

| Hills are my enemy! | Re: Battery drain after amp install Pass - I'll ask him tomorrow when I see him at work ... if I remember correctly (and my memory is sh*te) there was voltage but no current but I could be wrong ... and have been known to be on many occasions ...

| Re: Battery drain after amp install
when you was working on the sie putting the wiring in did you turn the courtosy light off? as a few hours with the doors open will drag the battery down and have you been showing off your sub with the engine turned off??

| Hills are my enemy! | Re: Battery drain after amp install When we were installing it the battery was disconnected, and it worked fine after installation. It's only a pair of 6x9's in the parcel shelf rather than a sub but no, every time i've used them (which is only twice since installation) the engine has been running

| Hills are my enemy! | Re: Battery drain after amp install Just FYI - it turned out the be the HU ... I hadn't bother doing the "switch on and off with ignition" and my laziness cost me the battery charge ... so that'll be getting done tonight!
