Stereo Harness Connector

Hey guys,

I'm planning to upgrade my audio system with a sub, but I am eager to not modify any existing wiring so that I can completely remove everything if there are ever any problems (for warranty issues).

I was thinking I could purchase a second harness for the back of the HU, and splice my wires into that. If I ever needed to remove the setup I could then just plug the old harness back in. So I am wondering if anyone can tell me how accessible the other end of that harness is? I.e. the opposite end to the one that connects to the HU?

Thanks!

Re: Stereo Harness Connector

just get a pc2-69-4 or pc2-04-4 from anywer, halfords stock them for 13 quid, and splice them as you please, if you want to upgrade your sound system buy a new unit, OEM ones arent that powerful anyway, one that has pre-outs meaning no cutting of wires, just simple connector blocks
this means when you sell the car you can take your stereo with you and install the old one back in witout any problems

btw i dont know if yours has an ignition feed and wer it is, i can soon find out if your stuck, that will determine the correct harness for you to get
but they are all female to male iso plugs so if the wires dont run correctly, just cut them and crimp them the right way

Re: Stereo Harness Connector

It looked a bit difficult to get to the other end of my harness connector to swap the entire thing out, so I have actually gone for a short female <-> male ISO connector block (PC2-36-4), which I will splice into and will act as a passthrough for the standard harness connector. A couple of the wires in this connector don't match up to my HU so I just need to swap a couple around. I am hoping it's gonna work great and it'll be real easy to remove if needed.

Ya I don't think the HU has a signal which comes on with the car, but I think it does have a pin which goes live when the unit itself is switched on. I made a thread earlier to confirm this and AlanHod said he has used it with no probs.

You've already got yours sorted obviously, but for reference: http://www.fiatforum.com/i-c-e/13915...-headunit.html

Re: Stereo Harness Connector

if your just using the OEM stereo them as long as the wires are running straight from ISO to ISO then the stereo will work perfectly. its rather clever, i think the recognise the illumination feed to light up the buttons to switch on but it should still switch on and off with the key despite not having an ignition feed
