Re: Help with 6x9s

i have 6x9s, they aint that bad tbf, but components are better, just put some 6x9s my infinitys are awsome, they are £50 in halfauds. the main reason people say dont have 6x9s is because they overthrow the sound mucky the sound of the front speakers, but if you want some 6x9s get some i recomend infinitys

Take the 6x9s out and recover the parcel shelf with acoustic carpet

Re: Help with 6x9s

if you have four components and a sub just recarpet it, you can have too much, 6x9 is usually a cheap way to get a bit of bass
if you want to be a replacement set, the infiniti's are hard to beat at that price

Re: Help with 6x9s

get infinities, get the tri-axial one (two tweeters inbuilt) but turn the fader towards the front so theres isnt a mess of sound in the back so you can get an all round clear sound

Re: Help with 6x9s

what im going to do is get the same components that i have in the front and mount them in the holes that i had for the 6x9s then build the tweeters into little boxes that will face into the car
how you think this will work?
thanks

Re: Help with 6x9s

Not the tweeter its the woofers as the tweaters dont need airspace but the woofers wont like sharing the same airspace as the subs.

Re: Help with 6x9s

i would remove the 6x9s and fit components in the rear, infinity or JBL are highly recommended if you want to spend wisely.

always buy components with seperate tweeters and passive crossovers, it makes a HUGE difference to your midrange. having tweeters in the centre of the mid cone seriously reduces the efficiency of the cone. additionally tweeters are very directional so they need to be positioned higher up than the mids, certainly they should not be fitted to your doors where the mids are fitted.

Re: Help with 6x9s

I really wouldn't bother with speakers in the back, put the money towards something else - like a shelf from the scrappers!

I have to disagree with you there if set up correctly you can have a set of comps in the back without effecting what you here in the front too much. Come on the people in the back dont just want to here boom boom boom give them a bit of mid and treble too. Face the tweates inwards from the door panel and youl probably here it even less in the front. And all of this depends on the kind of music that you listen to, if your listening to rock or michael jackson then yeah you do want it to sound like the Artist is standing on your bonnet and the bass is coming from behind you, but if you listen to dance, D&b and such like then there is plenty of speaker distribution written into the music, where for example a long note may fade from front-back/left-right and so on and this is not resricted to bass.
I will say that it would be more important to spend your money on getting a 4 channel amp first though as this is what really going to improve the system a second set of speakers can come later when you have the rest of the system finnished.
Also i believe that he has a GP which isnt the shortest of cars and the sound doesnt travel a great deal compared to the older punto's, panda's and Cinq's ect.

Re: Help with 6x9s

No sorry i was wrong before i have a mk2b punto not a mk3/gp my bad lol
Anyway going to try the scrappys some time this week to get a new parcel shelf and sell the 6x9s asap and try and sell the old parcel shelf on ebay or summit to get a lil bit more cash(probably nothing) lol
As for the comps in the back would it be ok or would thy not have enough air space to function as effectivly if i cut holes in the rear door cards ( or w.e there called on a 3dr) and put them in there and put the tweeters in the parcel shelf or not
as for the amp can anyone recommend a good 4 channel amp to power 4 of these compoents http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpi...e140d2918a8234
Budget roughly no more than £200 at the very top
Thanks
