query about soundsystem?!?!

hello all i was wondering whether anyone could tell me the problem im having or how to solve it. i have wired up a sub and an amp to my headunit and all the wires are connected but there is no power going to the back because the LED on the amp isnt coming on and im gettin no sound any ideas? cheers.

hey

first of all make sure your power cable is connected from battery with an inline fuse or a glass fuse depending on what guage wire your using, you need a good earth connected to bare metal and then you need the thin blue wire running back to the amp which will switch it on when the headunit powers up. If all of those are working the fuse could have blown in the amp itself which you should see near the connectors that should just pull out so you can check it.

Isnt that one of my sayings either that or you have said that statment before stop confusing me.
Always check the Earth this is important but the amp will normally power up even if the earth is dodgy well they have 4 me anyway and you would still get an LED light up but normally red if the Automatic cutout kicks in.
Your best be is the remote wire either you have forgotten it sorry if that offends and you do know what your doing or you have used some dodgy method of connecting it up to the HU and it has come out when you put the HU back in. But this would normally short the fuse to in the car for the HU as there is normally a lot of stuff for the Wires in the HU to earth to.

a multimeter will tell you if you have a live & remote signal and a good earth in less than 1 minute.
