Righteo, since i spend a lot of time in my punto.. i'm just after a decent Sound system.

i have an 1800w amp which works (i think) a panasonic HU with 1x pre outs.

what else do i need? obviously a sub, i mean more wires etc, going to install it myself by going off the RS

cheers!

Okay, in my experience you will need a wiring kit(obviously depending on the sub that you get) , 'vibe' do a good one in halfords for about £40 or you can check out 'theloudest.com' then you will need an 'AGU' fuse and fuse cap but you have to be careful because the sub is the most protected thing on the sound system if the amp goes too high then the fuse will blow to stop the amp blowing up and visa versa so you don't want to much of a big fuse, i'm not an expert on this but if you want a really decent sound trust me on this, because i have just got one, get an Orion H2 12 inch subwoofer, it is amazing and you wont be dissapointed, your amp should be able to handle it as long as you don't get too much of a big fuse. then you will need a 200w wiring kit and you have got the rest. (I am just telling you what the guy at the audio shop told me )

don't know if it is any help m8

Re: Cheap ish ICE

^^ hes got some things right, you need a good fuse. spent £40 on just my fuse, you need a wireing kit, these come with fuses but are normally crap depending on the price you pay for it.and the best subs on the market at the moment are jl audio. not the cheapest thought @ £110 for an unboxed 12" but the quality is out of this world, but on a budget it might be worth getting the good old halfords fusion/fli. cheap and cheerful and do the job alright. the more subs the better its gonna boom. but thye one thing it recomned is a couple of sheets of dynamat its not cheap about £30 for a sq metre but its so worth it in your boot and door cards. i spent about £200 on it,it takes the vibration out of the metal. hope iv helped.

Only has one preout on his hu so he has no real quality option of sending a signal to a second amp so JL would drown out the other speakers.
Upgrade Hu and let us know your budget.
Why do you need to upgrade a Fuse holder for a small sytstem using four gauge wiring the only way that they blow is for earthing faults so you dont actually need a huge Fuse they do not effect the quality of the system you just need to make sure that the ampage meets the systems requirements. You would not need a £40 fuse for a £60 amp there will be no benefits your better off buying a £100 amp.

:S i have 2 £130 amps, and the fuse does make a difference, the better the fuse the better the connection from amp to battery is the one reason my fuse cost so much is because its a 2-1 to power both amps, but i agree that he does need to upgrade his hu.

Re: Cheap ish ICE

If you wanna sound proof ur car then there is a material that you can get from a 'timber- place' (place that sells wood) lol i couldn't remember the name, i cant remember what it is called but if you look into it a bit further (audio shops) it will be much cheaper and it does the same job--- also i meant 2000w not 200w wiring kit on my 1st reply =)

Re: Cheap ish ICE

Hey evry1, my brother is gonna gve me his car but i haven't tested it out yet, he has the sporting speedgear. what is the sound system on it like, because i need to know whether to upgrade it or not and it would give me time to save lol, basically i like listening to loud music and as long as it sounds good, i'm not fussed but is the punto a good enough standard system? I have an orion h2 12 inch sub but no amp and no head unit i am looking at the pioneer deh-p65bt for a HU but do i neeed to do all of that or is it good enough as it is

cheers guys P.S. sorry 4 using ur thread ALEX-R but no1 was answering mine

wood is heavy, weighs alot more then dynamat.and can probably work out alot more expensive, and i doubt you can hide it behind your door cards.

Re: Cheap ish ICE

lol, it's not actually wood it's a material that you use in timber (like a weatherproof) but it absorbs sound and stops panel rattling if used in cars
