Poor Acoustics in GP :-(

Pretty annoyed at this.

Before I sold my Mk1 laguna, I took the door speakers out, which were relatively inexpensive 70 watt RMS Fli Three way coaxil speakers.

In my Laguna they sounded amazing, really bassy and perfect clarity, so there was no-way I was letting the car go with those still in.

To my Glee I find the front speaker size in the GP is the same as my previous car. But for the love of god..... fiat seems to have done everything possible to stop people putting even remotely 'ok' sounding speakers into the car.

As per someone's guide, entire door card has to come off, and THEN the old speakers are ****ing riveted to the door

After buying a new drill/drill bits, i then have fun trying to mark out the holes that I DONT WANT TO DRILL into my brand new car and hoping for the best.

Jesus Christ fiat, whats wrong with screws. Why not make it so the plastic speaker cover in the door card can be removed like in every other fecking car?

I finally install my brilliant speakers (with custom made carpet surrounds to deaden unwanted vibration), and they sound god awful. You put the volume anything past 15 and the entire contents of the passenger doors just vibrate, its unaudiably bad. Everything was put into place perfectly as it should be, and still ridiculous amounts of vibration.

Just aggravating when my old £800 pound car designed in 1993 had every nook and cranny filled with sound deadening foam. Even the wheelbrace/jack accessory thing in the boot was a foam insert.

Meh, not happy lol

...because its easier/cheaper to build this way as is it with most value for money cars.

Are you sure you wired the speakers 'in phase'? This would result in the sound you are getting.

Personally think the GP sounds ok...then again my jazz cd's are not to everyones taste

I dont think the GP is that bad sound wise. Its a huge improvement on Punto's of old.

Did you completely remove the rivets i did mine at the weekend and spent a good half hour tonight trying to track down a rattle in the drivers door I drilled the hats off the rivets but didn't drill them out completely and one was loose and was rattling like there was a bag of spanners in the door...

I take it you've not tried to do the back ones yet

Could well be this yeah... just annoying that both the door cards need to come off for such a simple job.

Taking door cards off is no-one because over time they never seem to sit properly flush/screw hols become "worn" etc.
