But they dont work

Save yourself the hassle of buying these things that dont do a lot and keep breaking and fit a Carputer.
I will soon (well i say soon) be making a thread on the cheapest way to do it, of which i have not done but im just learning ATM.
So far the comp is as follows

120 GB HD For Music Storage so no more CD's
Sat Nav
Radio
DVD
CD
Bluetooth
WIFI
Digital TV/Radio
probably more and not cost more than about £500

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

ok but a ripspeed player costs only 200 and they do work....
i have sold and installed hundreds, ive only ever seen one returned. the new one is a very good unit

plus it takes out like 95% of the technical knowledge needed for a carputer. start up time is slower and it isnt very self contained

Yes very true it was just a suggestion for those who may be interested.

The start up shut down times are now down to about 4 seconds as you controll the sleep mode using something called M2-ATX.
I want to try and get more people into this kind of thing so that the technology can advance further by more people getting involved.

The problem with the Ripspeed stuff that i have seen is the inability to control amp's i.e only one set of preouts and i wouldn't personally want a DVD player that cant control a more advanced system than standard.

If you travel then you will have a sat nav that would cost about £150

If you want large music storage then you will need an Ipod around another £150 and then the extra for the interface at around £100.

Then if you want a DVD player at £200 and want a reasonable sound system the that would be a further £100 to get a linedriver providing you only need three sets of preouts.

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

i totally agree with that, i would love people to actually gain an interest in ICE instead of paying me a stupid amount of money for me to do it all for them.

i havent met anyone in NI who has had the knowledge of courage to have a car pc. tho with your start up time of 4 seconds i am tempted again as this was one thing that really put me off. i know of the M2-ATX but i thought it was simply power regulation allowing it to sleep maintaining power until this had done it safely and telling the computer to come on with the ignition feed

yea with the dv720 theres onli one mono pre-out which has to be split which i wasnt a big fan, the old one had three usual pre-outs but in fairness this unit was ****e. the new one is much more stable. you get the usual controls lik EQ and sub output. anything from that would have to be done at the amp

i defnitly dont query the cost for a spec of an all in one unit. ive quoted them and will soon be installing one and yours outperforms and costs quite a bit less. hope its close to being finished

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

How easy are the ripspeed dv720's to install in the grande punto, as i am looking at buying one quite cheap but if its gonna cost me a bomb to get it installed then i will have to wait a bit, and from what most people have said on here it sounds like a pretty decent unit!

cheers

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

its not overly complicated. takes me less than half and hour but from you saying you can get it cheap i guess the loom has already been modified so quicker than that. you need an aerial adapter and fascia. shud b less than 20 quid tho the GP section would have detailed guides im sure
