Re: Ripspeed DVD player

you bought the old silver one right?

the reason they were so cheap was that they were that old and had problems with them, i wasnt so big on selling them

the black one is meant to be the revised model (hence we dont sell the silver one anymore) which has a few more features but fixed some of the common problems associated with the 722 model

any unit of that style with a million features lik dvd etc at v little price will cause trouble, ive seen them all, silvercrest, 4u, eon, ripspeed and all the other ebay ones available, you cant get good quality at that price

generally you get wat you pay for, unfortuantly the proper models of those units are JVC exad which are around 400 quid or so

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

screen sensitivity to vibration suggests the ribbon cable is loose at either end.

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

yep, screen ribbon would be my guess

also im not sure wat car its into but make sure your cage is well and tight cause if its a wee bit loose it will shake a shocking amount while driving

also i wont lie to you, ive returned hundreds of those models, you can pick them up for peanuts cz theres been that many refurbished, it was their first attempt at it and it had its problems, the new 720 seems to be running a lot better though

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

Had the Silver ripspeed dv722 dvd a cd got stuck init took it back n they said i could have the 7" screen 1 (dv720) instead lol only thing i can complain about at the moment is, with the silver 722 dvd player there was an option in the settings to turn the parkin brake thing off so you can watch videos while driving (bit stupid to make it an option in the 1st place.) which was great. with the 7" dvd 1 there is no option in the settings AND when you unplug the wire leading to the parking brake switch it stil doesnt allow you to watch videos while driving (they've obviously become wise to there mistakes) but i was wondarin, is there a way to be able to watch videos while driving? (i know its illigal blah blah) but say i had kids and i wanted to keep them entertained whilst on a long journey they wouldnt be able to watch videos lol
hope you understand all tht =]

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

yea that always got me about the new units, the old ones were dead handy, even the dv-710 you still had that option but the new ones i just integrate into the earth of the iso

enjoy the 720, its a fantastic unit with a suprising reliability, good swap tho lol

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

I've got the dv720 flip out in mine, on my third one, but only one was down to a technical problem, works great and does all the things that a £500 screen would do, just wish I could scrub off the ripspeed logo lol

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

third one
dammit, i rarely see one of these returned so i dont like hearing things like that, lol.
theyre a bargain but i hate how the took the video phono input out ruling out the ability for tv or ps2 etc

an alpine screen for 300? thats a bit of a bargain. bound to be very limited in what it can do, or broke, lmao. we have one in our audio model, i cant think of the model, was 1199.99 now 570.00, tho no-one apart from me and the other full-timer knows lmao

Re: Ripspeed DVD player

I went with a Guy at work to buy a Ripspeed 7" flip out and I've gotta say I'm quite impressed!! I'm a bit cynical about Ripspeed branded stuff etc, but the picture quality and functions are great!!
