| Panda install thread - picture heavy My grand Panda Project is finally taking off. I'll be using an Alpine 7944 headunit, Hert Mille MLK2 components and eventually Mille sub and Hertz amp. For now, just the headunit and components have gone, powered by a Phoenix Gold M100. So here's some pictures of what's been going on.... First off, soundproofing doors: Fit power cable: Soundproof floor: Boot lid: Amp and crossovers on temporary false floor: Tweeter mounted: Headunit in situ:

| EgyTuner.com... | Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy looking good paul reminds me that i need to start soundproofing to stick my system in. had the comps and amp sitting in my room for nealy a year now. are you not using any foam at all? i thought that would be more suitable for the floor as it will absorb road noise | ||

| Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy TBH, road noise isn't really much of an issue in the Panda, I might stick some Dynaliner on there though, depends on funds. Also, with well over 100wrms going into the comps, you can't hear much else!!!

The crossovers are the ones that comes with the Hertz Mille MLK2 components, have a look here: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/6654.html The headunit I'm using won't even play CDRs! It's the last of the great (non F#1) Alpine headunits from around 1998 so there's none of the factory options like before. If a jobs worth doing it worth doing right.

| More ICE Please | Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy Looking Good Paul. So what do you think Of the Herz stuff i have heard good things but not known anybody that actually has it. What amp do you want to get i cant remember the name of the ones that i have seen but they are all supposed to be top notch. Are you putting you sub box over the amps or are they just there as a temporary fix. Will you be laying the subs horizontally where the parcel shelf would be American Style. | ||

| Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy The comps are still running in, but so far they sound pretty good. I'll be moving the tweeter into the A-pillar and doing a build for the mid so I can angle suitably for better imaging, stage is a bit low at the moment. I was going to use the Hertz HP4 for the amp, but funds aren't going to allow that if I want to compete this year, so I'll be sticking with the M100 (pictured) and the M44 I had in the Seicento last year. The boot is just a temporary setup, I think the sub will go in the wheel well (loosing the spare) with an amp at each side, the passives in the middle. Have to see how much room there will be.

| Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy They're should be enough room, the only issue might be with depth, but my false floor gives me a few inches more anyway. It could be mounted with the magnet showing, but that could effect the SQ, so would be a last option. I'll be running it sealed too, not a fan of the ported sound and it's generally considered an SQ no-no.

| Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy Yep, I'll be competing in SQ Rookie this year (fingers crossed). You'd beat me on SPL (I'm only using about 5-600wrms), but I'd hopefully have you in every other area, LOL!

, but in all seriousness i used to pipe dream about DB Dragracing, do they have different classes for SPL or is it literally any old person can turn up with a Transit van full of subs.Would sound proofing to the extent that you have really help me for SPL or is that just so that there is no escape or room for distortion, i may just be confusing myself now sorry. Have you ever thought of building the box way bigger than you need it and line it with concrete and use chicken wire to make the concrete sturdy then treating it with something to stop it cracking and dusting. Just an idea as you can tell i like to think of some strange ones. | |||

| Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy You can't measure SQ, it's literally down to the judge who sits on your car on the day! SPL has a few different classes, ranging from cars that are "standard" ie, all the seats in situ to open which is where all the bonkers walled vans come in. Soundproofing will greatly improve the SPL of your car. I did the doors before the comps and amp went in so had a few days driving round with the factory stuff still fitted. The soundproofing meant I could turn it up louder and with less distortion, so I got back-to-back comparison of it's effects. Chicken wire and concrete are not in my future plans, LOL!

| More ICE Please | Re: Panda install thread - picture heavy Why because you simply dont think that it will work because in theory this should have amazing results and would probably weigh a lot less than filling the box with sand. Both of which would allow all of the vibrations to come from the speaker and not box that it is contained in. Concrete would be the Ideal container for a speaker but this is not very often practiced due to weight isuues but if you had two boxes you could use the heavier only for competitions. Fcuk being a Rookie competitor be a Rookie Competition winner. | ||
