hi

just got back from fletchers, where I found, not only a 10" jenson sub box for 30quid, but the JBL Gto4000 4channel amp on offer for 100quid aswell.

They were both scooped up, and being fitted tomorow.Just tried the box, and it fits perfect in the boot.

WOOHOO at last some decent sound

just fitted the amp and sub, and put the 6x9's thru the amp too.
And I have to say, MY GOD, its shakes the whole god damn car.ive been running the sub in all morning, and just turned the gain up to about 45%. I don't think I need it anymore, its awesome already. I have played with the setting, and got the 6x9's doing midrange, bit of bass, but not much, fronts are set as normal.
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! I never thought a sub would make so much difference. WOWOWOWOWOOWWOOWOWOWOWOWOW!

I have just got a basic mdf floor at the moment. And have taken out the amp and sub, becuase of reasons involving family, and them killing me if they knew I had spent some more cash lol.
anyway a question.
I fitted the sub and amp, all worked great. Did it at a mates house, and when completed whizzed home. Later than day, I deceided we had enough time to connect the 6x9's to the 2 spare channels. so we did that, all still fine, sounded amazing. BUT, later that day, I was going to work, got the system up and running, started the engine, and to my horror, I high-pitched whine from the 6x9's. I have been informed by various people, that its probably the earth from the amp? where have people used as earth points in there seicento? becuase I pissed me off within seconds.

thanks for any help

THis could also be interference from your power cable. Is your power cable runing down the same side of your car as your audio leads? If so this could be a major one.

nope
the power is down the drivers side, along with the remote lead, and the RCA leads are down the passenger side.

thanks anyway

Yeah most likely is a poor earth point somewhere, unless you've run speaker cable very close to the power wires.
If so, try moving them further apart.
Though on a past car I had to have an inteference supressor fitted to remove the whine! Cost about £10. from my local ICE shop.
Good luck.

when i earthed my sub - i ended up connecting the earth direct to the battery coz i just wasn't getting a good enough earth ;)

did you use the same gauge cable to run all the way back to the battery donz?
2.0 - the power is on the opposite side of the car, so I can't get em any further apart. It must be the earth point I would think.
Lets hope anyway.

yeah i got 2 cables running from sub to battery, when i upgrade my sub (from tiny 2x8"'s) to summin bigger i'll prolly redo it and get a good earth in the boot.

I have both amps underneath my seats and i've earthed mine to the bottom of the subframes of my bucket seats no disstortion for me.
When i had my amps in the boot i earthed them to the bolt holding the rear seat in this worked fine, you could try that!

"The Not so Fast but Furious"

ill try that
thanks cento

No an RF filter attaches to your alternator.
Difficult to explain but kind of smoothes the electrical current drawn by the alternator (i think).
All good car-audio shops should be able to advise if you need one and be able to supply one.

i have 1 rear speaker that has a slight crackle that is worse the higher the revs, would one of these hoogers stop it? and how much is it gonna cost?

SEI POWER

Look in the Maplin catalogue for the RF filters, these ones attach in line with the RCA leads.
The best Earthing point on all cars is the rear seat belt point, because it has to be strong it has a lot of contact to the bodywork.
