head unit help

First post, new driver, sorted.

Basically i own a punto sx 65 1998, so mk1, and it currently has some rubbish clarion tape player in, i bought a new http://www.iceclearout.com/Kenwood/S...P3-WMA-Player/

for a tidy 50quid of their ebay site, but i was wondering how to fit it, i dont have much experience with this sort of stuff, but i want to get into it for now and the future,

that is the back of the current one, and it has some wierd PCH connector i found out, what i want to know, is how can i alter/change/whatever this in order to wire up my new one. Im really in the dark as no one in my family really knows much about this sorta stuff

any answers/guides would be great
and comments on the HU, i bought it cause i liked it when i saw it in halfords, but was not paying the price they had it at :/

Cheers

Re: head unit help

okay, ive been doing research since i got that response, hunting for an adapter,

http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product...s_id/1627.html]

that is the connector i currently have in my car, going to the clarion radio,

http://www.bizrate.co.uk/caraccessor...481336164.html that was included in my box n stuff, an ISO female to kenwood obviously for my HU,

what i need is to convert my clarion PC3-471 to an ISO male, unfortunately no matter how much i google, i cant find this, only fiat to ISO males

a site, or anything to get me started would be great

its a matter of getting this part then plugging in the cable i have into the ISO adapter. and getting it going.

Cheers

Re: head unit help

im not certain, im assuming to check this ill need to take off the dash? i checked as far as i could follow the wires, but couldnt see anything ill try it tonight and look, it may be a case that its a fiat adapter to ISO which would be great, as i have an iso adapter that works for my car, but just not from the clarion to the iso male,

as for copper plating, that isnt mine, but it is the exact model

who knows maybe :P

but mine doesnt look copper at all

cheers

Re: head unit help

Do you have any wiring diagrams and did your new HU come with a bare ISO harness (some do)?

Well actaully i would say that they did quite a good job to have actual nipple connections or whatever there called, thats just what happened to the older cars before ISO blocks were widely used.
Ive seen cars with the wires twisted together and covered with insulation tape . The worst ive ever has to do is an old Mercedes E class cosworth because i sold an old headunit to the guy and he took it to a pro to get fitted come back to me and said its broken. I knew it wasnt so i had to spend an hour trying to figure out the dodgy wiring that the car had but it worked.
Moral of the story is its hard to explain how to wire a whole ISO without actually being there (i know that was a bit off the point) but there maybe some individual here that knows exactly how to explain it.
