ok i am in the process of talking to a composite company that might be interested in making some novitec inspired carbon fibre airboxes (rear section too) and TB tops for turbo conversions, i am wanting to find out how many people would be interested in them as i am going to meet the guy next week and having rough numbers would be good for each design

option 1

front airbox like the novitec one only a slightly differnet design (with the possibility of rear section too)

option 2

TB top with 52mm inlet for turbo conversions

(inlet size is not set in stone, if it is decided that a slightly smaller inlet pipe would be more benifical then it will be reduced but 52mm is a good compromise between the needs of high boost and N/A)

add your names below if its something you would be interested in

interested in option 1.

you would need to look into the airbox though, as apparently the novitec ones were pretty much as restrictive as the standard one / standard hosing.
maybe change the shape slightly, etc.
also, the rear section would be cool, would look much tidier.

but yeah, as ive said, interested in option one, just need an idea on numbers :D

well going to possibly see the guy this fri now as i am in his area and if the prices are right then we will see what is what

i have a felling that option 2 might be alot cheaper as not as much material needed in making it but the stock replacement is alot simpler i am going to go and talk to him and see what he recons about it all as lets face it he is the composit expert lol, i just get these ideas then find the guys to make them lol

i had the thought mainly about option 2 as a solution to the turboing thing of getting a plenium made up as there dont seem to be anywhere that does an off the shelf item (that i have found but not really looked that hard lol)

i will meet the guy and then post some figures up

how is it, the inlet is alot bigger. this is the only pic i have of mine

and about the bobs, ive made stainless ones with 2"/50mm inlets so you can get a silicone hose over it.

yeah when i took the novitec off my 1108 and went to a drilled stock box and sports filter it just seemed flat after lol wow thous days are soooooooo long ago lol

yeah the bob design is going to be 2"/52mm mainly for turbo aplications but i have got a couple of other ideas for N/A design but i will keep them to myself for the time being me thinks

i thought about fibre glass but getting the inside smooth would prove difficult, i will see what the prices are like for CF and then let you guys know, CF has come down in price alot so i'm hoping they will be fairly cheap lol

Once the mould has been made for these making them from fibreglass will be alot cheaper and the finish will be as smooth as from carbon. Ive made a fair few bits out of fibreglass and carbon, Nosher you will of seen some of it on my bro's blue 899-1242 cinq. Ive thought about making the airbox out of fibreglass before but gave up as there is easier options out there.

Brooky, where did you get that Novitec front airbox from??? This is a VERY small world! That one, in that pic....used to be MINE!!!:eek::eek:

I bought it back in 2000 for my ex-Seicento Sporting! I know for a fact its my old one, as I bought the Abarth badge that is on it, and stuck it on, along with KingDragon airfilter stickers and Novitec! ;)

think i got it off ebay, £50 and i begged the guy to post it:D

My old one used to rub on the bonnet so i sold it, never used yours, its sat in me bedroom looking prity

haha nice one! I honestly can't remember if I left it on the car when I traded it in.....but I dont think so! Can't beleive it's still floating about! It looks mint still! I should have some pics of it fitted to my Sei somewhere...I remember I had placed two air feeds inside the spout which led to two trumpets mounted in the front bumper airvents! Aaaah my youthful days! :p

i get that the novitec is a reducer. (larger front but stock smaller rear) so it pressurises more air into a smaller space. this how it helps? does the angle change and pressure change from a smaller pipe to the bigger box now affect it cmpared to a smooth induction system like a cda or gsr?

yeah sorry i spoke to him on the phone and ouch lol they wanted £4000 just for the mould and the £300 each item (thats was for novitec style) and they wouldn't quote for the plenium design as its too detailed for them

but all is not lost i am persuing other routes but they may not be carbon fibre now unless i can find somewhere that will do them cheaper

might try china lol

Could i get numbers that would be interested, if i were to get them made exact same as the novitec box but not in CF.

My brother have contacts with manufracturer in china which could mass produce these, but obv the orders need to be responsible size.

I'll speak to him, once there are enough interest then we could enquire about cost.

Brooky, you think we could borrow it ? To replicate it :)

Thanks
ming
