Ok well - that remapping centre is absolutely AWFUL! lol

They are pretty much the most arrogant bunch of people you could ever meet. Aside from trying to subtly take the **** out of my car, they we're on their mobile phones and not really interested in what I had to say.

After questioning what my actually car was, I explained it had a punto sporting engine and I would like to get it re-mapped as it has a cold induction kit, de-cat exhaust and I wanted to get maximum performance.

One of the 'mechanics' told me I would get a 3bhp improvement at best and that I should fit a Punto turbo engine and come back.

I did say that I was aware of that fact it wasn't a Zonda or a Ferrari and that the performance gains would be small, but I wanted the re-mapping to suit the de-cat and filter.

At this point I realised they were no-brainers and then proceeded to ask them how they can 'tune performance cars' without a rolling road and why their website says they can provide 'at least a 30% improvement in power for any vehicle'.......but not for me.

I then left a large line of rubber in the carpark and went home.

Hmm, IIRC you are using the Punto Mk1 sporting ECU? Seeing is not OBD2 (i think), then remapping is the really the same procedure as the OBD2.

May be need some sort of chip written for it like the cinq?

Not possible on the 1.2 16v, it has the 18FD ECU which needs a proper remap. You're right though, not OBD2, I had to mod some existing 1.2 8v software to work with the 16v.

I'd be interested in this, providing the company and the price is right. Both my beasties could do with a remap.

Would not be interested in Angel, read too many dodgy things about them.

Yes I am still intersted in gettting mine done, but it seems difficult to get a min of 10 people on here to all agree they also want their's done if its £200 max. Once we had say a min of 10, I was going to call Angel Tuning and ask them to confirm their price, which according to their website = £180 approx per car, Rgs David

Well i've had some bad new regarding mapping for chalky, nobody will touch it so that counts me out. Apparently too many things have been altered and would be very difficult to map on a standard ECU, they have said that it would need to be on a rolling road for a live map and would result in a cost of £300 atleast just for me.

Thanks

Yes I agree Dave, even though they seem to specialise in VAG/Seat group re-maps. I will do a write up & post some photos on here soon after 7th Aug as my 1.9JTD115 is acting as the F/Forum guinny pig, I booked it in for then. If all goes well, I hope this will be benificial to other F/Forum members. Having phoned around a lot, a custom map seems to be out of reach in the mids for £200. They won't go below £250 for a custom re-map, even for groups of us, but they will do their generic ones for £200, inc a B4 and after R/R report. They did'nt want a block booking (only have 1 Rolling road) so when I suggest doing 6-10 of our cars in 1 day they said they would prefer to do ad hoc bookings as they dont do that many per day.

So I hope I am doing the right thing going 4 a generic map, not that interested in the absolute max BHP, just a bit more overall umph. I drove another 1.9JTD115 Stilo which was remapped by superchips years ago (paid about £320) and that really did go's well compared with mine and is more economical than it was B4.

No that's not what the guy (Nick) told me. He said a full custom remap takes 3-3.5 hrs+ , and they can't do them for less than £250. I told him a lot of us are running 1.9JTD's. They also only do custom maps Mon-Friday, not on Sat's. He did'nt mention donations to FF at all. I'm off to bed now. Cheers David
