Hi all,

I have a proposition...

Quaife have told me the facts. They will make a Diff for our Fire 'boxes, if I order ten off minimum. There are currently 8 people who want these Diffs, and I'm prepared to be left with the "Spare" one. I'm also quite prepared to foot the bill for all ten of them, just to get the ball rolling.

I have spoken to Quaife again today, and they need my Diff and Gearbox casing, which I'm happy to take down to them. They have estimated a price of £460 + vat, so it could be less, or it could be more??? I would imagine that the highest it'll get to is £500, based on the fact that their price on a lot of other diffs is around the £590 mark?

So, before I waste my time driving all the way to Kent, with my 'box in the boot, how do you feel about all paying me a deposit of 25%, which is what Quaife want before doing anything. Obviously if you pay me with Paypal, you'll need to add a little, so that I'm not out of pocket in the end.

I am a 45 yr old professional Engineer, and have no intention of ripping anyone off. I am not going to make a penny out of this, but obviously don't want to be out of pocket either, so I think the terms of this deal will be this:-

You pay a deposit of 25% (£135), which is refundable if the quote I recieve is more than, say, £480 +vat+carriage.
The deposit will be non-returnable if you change your mind after I've given Quaife the go ahead.(I will be stuck with your Diff)
I will not give Quaife the go ahead until everyone is happy with the quote.
Anyone who is not happy with the quote, can have a refund, and the rest will have to wait until we have the original 9 or 10 diffs sold. (As mentioned earlier, I'll have the spare diff if we are stuck with only 9 sold.)
I will arrange for Quaife to ship the diff to your desired delivery address, once I have recieved payment in full from yourself.
I will not make a penny out of this deal, and will happily show anyone the invoice once I've paid.

If anyone would like to add to this, or suggest a better way of getting this going, please feel free. But remember, this cannot go ahead without some form of commitment from those interested. I am simply not prepared to stump up over £5000 on the basis of a list of names on a forum. I think you'd all feel the same?

Any idea about possible shipping costs to Poland? I can forward this to some forums...

Sounds fine to me.

If paying by PP, send it as a gift, and you should incure no fee's.....however PP may think it odd you suddenly getting £1000+ as gifts :)

I am happy to pay £135, but i think cheque would be best. That way I know a postal address where the payments are to be accepted, and i don't like messing with PP for large costs.

If you could PM me your details, and I'll get the deposit to you in the next few days.

Perhaps if people are posting money, PM'ing something with your address on .. ie. a drivers licence with sensitive blanked out, may be reassuring.

Me, I have no probs though. I'm sure your a genuine guy, and don't think for one second you stripped a new panda and create a fraudulant account, simply to rip off some people ;)

Just had another thought,

If you decide to send a Cheque, please PM me and I'll return my address.

If I dont recieve all the deposits in a reasonable time, and as a result the deal dies, I'll destroy the cheques. I won't pay any into my bank account until all deposits are recieved.

Then I'll take my 'box to Quaife, and return you all a quote.

I'm sure we can get an idea of the shipping cost direct from Quaife to ourselves in advance?

http://www.quaife.co.uk/

They normally offer free shipping on a Diff on their site so I'm guessing they won't charge us silly money to send them out directly to us?

For you to receive £550 as an example it'll be nearly £20 in Paypal fees (n) I think I'd rather go for the cheque idea.

As Kristian said, if you have bank funding set up on your PayPal account you can send cash as gifts and there are no charges. Have done this many times for buying items and is safer sending out your PayPal account name/email than sending bank details for ank transfer.

Though of cours good old cheques work well. :)

Hello

When is the date to order?

because i think some Peoples (3-4) from Germany want a Quaife....

Our past problem was to find 10buyers:(

Thanks to all of you who have sent, or have promised Deposits.

Because of your fantastic response, I have arranged a day off work tomorrow to take my 'box and diff to Quaife. I have arranged to meet up with Matt Simmons, a technical guy. He has told me he will analyse the diff, and give a quote in a "few days". It's gonna be a long old drive to Sevenoaks from Gloucester, but hey, when needs must!! He's also promised a tour of the facility. As a professional Engineer, that's gonna be real interesting.

I also asked Matt today, for those of you who are worried, if the diff will handle any big power upgrades. He said the internals are the same as cars producing over three times the power we're ever gonna make from our little Fire engines.

I'll post tomorrow with more info.

The time to order is now, but remember the postage will be high to Germany. I will try and remember to get some quotes on postage to Europe tomorrow.

Remember one thing though, this price is a one off. I have been advised that the price after the initial batch is made will be in the region of £600 +vat.

Look forward to the update, in fact i wouldn't have minded having a nosey around the plant myself

Good news on the internals strength though, I can safely go back to stripping driveshafts now
