ok i see tons of threads on here about remapping your deisel grande puntos but what about us with the petrol engine is it possible to do anything to make it faster i have the 1.4 16v engine excuse my ignorance as dont know much about this sort of thing

A) is there anything you can do?

B) is it worth doing how much more bhp are you going to get?

ok well i have a mk2b sporting which is also a 1.4 16v and with a gsr induction and remap you would get about 110-115bhp which would bring your 0-60 down to about 9-10 seconds

Diesel engines are much stronger than petrol engines and as a result of this they have greater ability to be tuned. There is nothing wrong with re-mapping a petrol but you will not see the massive hike in power or torque as you would a diesel. More a case of removing flat spots and improving response. It is also good if you have other modifications. Diesels are great if you want a good "bang per buck" modification because on the 1.9 you get a 30% increase in bhp for around £300.

ok cheers so i can remap it any idea how much extra horse power i may get i believe the 1.4 16V is currently 95bhp also can you fit a turbo as i have heard that grande petrol turbo is in the pipeline but will you be able to upgrade doubtful i guess?

Ok, firstly, if im right in thinking the engine is similar if not the same as that in the idea and the stilo then you are looking at around a 10bhp gain for around the £200 mark. Now this doesnt sound much when you compare it to the 1.9 which gains 40bhp but that is the difference i mentioned earlier. If you were to pair the re-map with a good induction kit like a gsr then the gains would be better.

With regard to a turbo, yes you could do it. As to whether you could strap on the turbo that will be used in the abarth would entirely depend on whether they use the same base and highly tune the turbo. I cant see this being the case as it would need to go from 95bhp to potentially 200+bhp.

Final word, if you are looking at a turbo conversion remember there are other things you need to take into account. Its all good and well having plenty of power but remember you have got to stop it also.

thanks for your help had a look on angel tuning does not mention the 1.4 16v grande on there list so emailed them to enquire thanks again

Thats ok mate, glad i can help. Angel appear to be the best by far. I have spoke to them about my 1.9. Nigel is a member on here. His name is Alfanige.

Just waiting to see what we can do with the new Marelli 5SF ECU on the 1.2 and 1.4 before we get to excited. We had a 1.4 Grande from Fiat some 8 months ago but never progressed it as we concentrated on the Multijets.

Wont be long, but at the moment, apologies as we have been going back in time and remapping Seicento's and Punto 1.2 8v and having a hoot to boot :)

Nigel, if you manage to do the petrols consider yourself booked for a trip to Greece. You will have plenty of cars waiting for you....

Just heard back from angel tunning they do no do remaps on the 1.4 16v engine at the moment which is a shame they said they would let me know when they do so guess at some point you will be able to
